Heath Quinn, OF. DOB: 6'7'1995. B-R, T-R. 6'2", 190 lbs. Drafted 2016 Round 3.
A+: .228/.290/.371, 9 2B, 10 HR, 6.7 BB%, 29 K%, 297 PA.
I saw Heath Quinn as being a definite second round talent, possibly even late first round in the 2016 draft cycle. He then got off to a roaring start to his pro career and appeared to be off on the fast track to be the Giants RF or LF of the future. Needless to say, his first full season assignment to San Jose, which is in a hitter-friendly league and all was a big disappointment. He spent some time on the DL and I am going to chalk up this face-plant to injury. Bounceback Candidate.

Just read that Mark Appel is leaving baseball. He was the #1 pick (2013) by the Rangers and was expected to make the majors in a year-or-two. Injuries and constant mediocrity (he ended up being traded to the Phillies in 2016) have just worn him down.
ReplyDeleteI think some people were hoping the Giants would select him in the Rule 5 draft. I'm not sure if it was here or somewhere else...
Hope that Quinn stays healthy this year so he can have a better season. Maybe prospects like Quinn will benefit from the Giants restructuring their farm system having better coaching. Evans must have saw a need to revamp their system so they can be better at developing their prospects.
