"When the Giants Come to Town..." is my blog intended to chronicle my thoughts on San Francisco Giants baseball. My special interest is in prospects and the farm system, but of course, will comment on all aspects of the San Francisco Giants. I will also comment on baseball in general, particularly from a fantasy baseball perspective. I hope you will find the site informative, and invite you to join in the discussion.

ReplyDeleteUpdate on Phil Bickford (with some history):
He missed effectively all of his 2017 season, getting suspended for 50 games for using an illegal substance (as we know, marijuana is legal in his home state of California). Then he suffered a broken hand while pitching in extended spring training down in Maryvale while on suspension.
Bickford did get on the mound for the Brewers’ Arizona rookie team late in the summer. He worked 17 innings and allowing 10 hits but walking 10. He hit two as well. He struck out 16.
This was a lost season of development.
Susac who went with Bickford to Milwaukee was traded to the Orioles for cash considerations or a player to be named later.
In a sense, Giants have already "won" that trade although a "comeback" for Smith in 2018 would be nice.
If everything were banked right now on that trade, I would call it a lose/lose. But that isn’t how it works. Smith could still help in the bully for the Giants and Bickford could still develop into something for the Crew.
DeleteThe verdict is still very much out on that one.
that's much deeper than my thought, the Giants got something although it didn't help enough, the Brewers might get more but that, like what Smith does, in in the future.
Deleteno what if's, just a running score, with much game to play out
So JD Martinez will be a Red Socker.
ReplyDeleteOr whatever.
Gotta hand it to the Bosox, they aren't laying down in front of the Yankee juggernaut!
I hope the wheels fall off the Yankees... After the Dodgers, I hate them the most.
