Belt has continued to just rake. His 5 triples lead the AFL. Culberson has cooled off a bit, but has had a fine AFL campaign. He leads the AFL with 11 doubles. The guy who has really turned it on as the AFL has progressed is Conor Gillaspie. Conor's 5 dingers leads the AFL! Verdugo continues to rack up impressive K numbers. He is tied for the league lead in Wins and leads in K's with 25, 1 more than Scott Barnes(remember him?). Verdugo's 25 K's are over 19 IP, while Barnes has 24 in 21.2 IP. Stoffel is still running hot and cold. Runzler appears to be just getting in some work. Remember, the AFL is a very small sample size and generally hitter friendly.

  1. Wow, maybe Gillaspie might pay off eventually. I pretty much wrote him off prior to this season and he perked up on my radar when he hit some homers early but then tailed off.

Culberson too, Giants looking pretty good at 2B post Franchez, I think.

    Wow, Verdugo is doing well!

You know, I thought the Giants were going to look pretty barren after Posey and Bumgarner graduated, but, while not as great as season's past, the Giants are doing pretty well considering who they have graduated in recent seasons.

  2. The Giants will have to fish or cut bait with Conor Gillaspie by the beginning of the 2012 season. I'm starting to think he might be worth keeping on the 25 man roster by then. We'll have to see how 2011 plays out. I would think he will be assigned to Fresno. If he can't put up great numbers there, it's unlikely he'll do well in the majors.
