Churn WatchJacob Nottingham, the pride of Redlands(CA) HS was acquired via trade with who else?  The Mariners!  MLBTR did not know the terms of the deal.  Nottingham was not on the Mariners 40 man roster so no corresponding roster moves.  Meanwhile, Cal Stevenson OF, memba him?  He was claimed off waivers by the Phillies.

AA:  Binghamton Rumble Ponies stampeded the Richmond Flying Squirrels 7-2.

Vaun Brown CF- 2 for 4.  BA= .350.

Juan Sanchez has only allowed ER in 3 out of 13 appearances over 21.2 IP on the season.  Randy Rodriguez has a 0.71 ERA over 12.2 IP in 7 appearances in May.

A+:  Eugene Emeralds outscored the Everett Aquasox 8-6.

Grant McCray's slash line for May is .284/.379/.523.  Don't sleep on Adrian Sugastey as a catching prospect.

A:  Modesto Nuts crushed the San Jose Giants 9-2.

Diego Velasquez 2B- 2 for 4, BB.  BA= .329.
Jack Choate LHP- 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 4 K's.  ERA= 2.61.

We've said it before but Velasquez continues to emerge as a serious SS prospect.

  1. Brown only has 22 PA @ AA (.350/.409/.600/1.009).
His career professional numbers across 4 minor league levels are:
    621 PA .348/.443/.616/1.059, 27% K rate.
If he continues mashing AA, how many ABs before moving up to Sac? He's 1.1 years over the AA average age. He would be -2.7 years in AAA.

  2. Wood: after a ground ball up the middle to get the leadoff runner on, 2 walks on 3-2 counts in the 1st inning while adjusting to the ump gave the Brewers their run. Coulda been a shutout performance.

  3. What? Glowenke hitting .342? Is he beginning to justify his draft pedigree? Granted he was drafted strategically as a below-slot pick. Wouldn’t be surprising if the recent emphasis on younger players in SF has energized players on the lower levels.

  4. Glowenke hit .212 in Eugene last season. He’s now nearly 100 points above his career minor league average. Unlikely to be sustainable, but he has power as a stocky 2B and has been a decent run producer. Interesting follow.

  5. It was pretty disappointing to have Brown come into the season hurt. Especially with recent history of Giants prospects that’s seemingly been like a total lost season.

To have him get healthy and pick up right where he left off says a TON about him, IMO.

Let’s keep it rocking Grant McCray!
