Down on the Farm: 5/16/2023

AAA:  Reno Aces pounded the Sacramento River Cats 13-5.

David Villar 3B- 1 for 3, HR(1), 2 BB.  BA= .333.  

The biggest news here is Luis Matos OF got called up to AAA!  Yay!(does a happy dance).   

AA:  Akron Rubber Ducks edged out the Richmond Flying Squirrels 2-1(Game called after 5 innings).

Mason Black RHP- 3.2 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 6 K's.  ERA= 4.62.

A+:  Eugene Emeralds defeated the Hillsboro Hops 5-2.

Jimmy Glowenke 2B- 2 for 4, HR(2).  BA= .419.
Adrian Sugastey C- 2 for 4.  BA= .269.
Seth Lonsway LHP- 4 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 5 K's, GO/AO= 5/0.  ERA= 6.00.
John Bertrand LHP- 4 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 3 K's, GO/AO= 6/2.  ERA= 2.57.
Tyler Myrick RHP- 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K, Save(4).  ERA= 0.71.

A:  Stockton Ports outscored the San Jose Giants 9-7.

Tanner O'Tremba LF- 2 for 4, 2 HR(3).  BA= .297.
Andrew Kachel 3B- 3 for 4, HR(1).  BA= .301.
Luis Moreno RHP- 2.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K's, GO/AO= 5/0.  ERA= 0.00.

Luis Moreno is a newcomer to the SJ Giants but he's been in the organization since 2017 and is 24 yo.

  1. It's good to see Villar have success at the plate. Sometimes it takes a trip back to the minors for a young hitter to adjust to hitting major league pitching, thinking back to Matt Williams . Wow I thought I was being too optimistic yesterday that Matos would make AAA in 1 month. I remember Matos staying with the big club pretty long in spring training. Maybe the Giants liked what they saw back then . Great news, plus Matos is on the 40 man roster I believe . Also Vaun Brown was reinstated to Richmond AA, double YaY!

  4. Luke Jackson is supposed to be showing up at Sacramento. He had TJ in 2022 and started the season on the 60-day list. Now he's to his first rehab assignment.
