The Giants celebrated Buster Posey Day with a breakout offensive performance which they needed to pick up Logan Webb RHP on a day he was not at his best.
Mauricio Dubon SS- 2 for 4, HR(1), BB. BA= .182. Every time we all are about to write off Dubon he seems to come through with a big hit or play. He got an infield hit in the first inning and scored on Wilmer Flores 3B grand slam HR. Then in the second inning he homered to straightaway CF for a 2-run shot(BTW, someone put a post on Twitter saying that Oracle Park is the only park where that ball would have been a HR. Not sure if that's true). Dubon went on to draw a walk and beat out the back end of a potential GIDP and scored a total of 4 runs. He also made a sparkling play at SS where he started in place of Brandon Crawford who got a much needed day off.
Brandon Belt 1B- 0 for 1, 3 BB. BA= .239. In his first game back from COVID IL, Belt drew 3 walks and scored two runs. He also came out of the game in the middle of an AB after an awkward swing. The obvious fear was an oblique injury but he seemed go to the left side of his neck on the way to the clubhouse and his injury was later described as a stiff neck, so hopefully this won't mean an extended IL stint because this is a whole different lineup when Belt is in the middle of it.
Darin Ruf DH- 1 for 4, HR(1), BB. BA= .190. Ruf finally got the HR drought monkey off his back with a huge 2-run shot in the 2'nd inning to extend the Giants lead to 8-3. The Giants needed every one of those runs.
Wilmer Flores 3B- 1 for 3, HR(3), BB, SF. BA= .269. Flores jumpstarted the Giants offense with a grand slam in the first inning. He came up two more times with the bases loaded and drove in two more runs with a SF and walk.
Mike Yastrzemski RF- 2 for 4. BA= .288. YtY is 4 for 10 with a walk since coming off COVID which is a good sign. He started against a LHP today but batted out of the 9-hole.
Logan Webb RHP- 5 IP, 8 H, 4 R, 2 BB, 7 K's, GO/AO= 5/1. ERA= 3.82. This would have been a losing effort in the Giants last 4 games. Webb made some good pitches but also gave up some rockets. At least he gave the Giants 5 innings and left the game with a 5-run lead.

Jake Junis RHP comes back up to try for a split of the 4-game series tomorrow against Dakota Hudson RHP.
It's only fitting that the Giants break their losing streak in a big way on Buster Posey day.
