Down on the Farm: 5/6/2022

 AAA:  Sacramento River Cats shut out the Las Vegas Aviators 4-0:  

Heliot Ramos CF- 2 for 5.  BA= .220.
Ricardo Genoves C- 3 for 4, 2B.  BA= .279.
Raynel Espinal RHP- 5 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 9 K's.  ERA= 1.74.
Luis Ortiz RHP- 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K's.  ERA= 6.63.
Patrick Ruotolo RHP- 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K's, Save(2).  ERA= 0.96.

Giants have a pretty deep reservoir of pitching but right now they need hitting.

AA:  Akron Rubber Ducks sank the Richmond Flying Squirrels 3-0:

Solomon Bates RHP- 3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K.  ERA= 1.15.

Bates has looked strong in 2-3 inning relief appearances.

A+:  Eugene Emeralds blanked the Hillsboro Hops 1-0:

Kyle Harrison LHP- 4 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 10 K's.  ERA= 2.37. 
Nick Avila RHP- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K, Save(5).  ERA= 2.79.

Harrison has been crazy dominant except for one bad start in which he was reportedly not 100% physically. Nick Avila appears to be the primary Closer for the Ems.

A:  Stockton Ports defeated the San Jose Giants 6-2:

Grant McCray CF- 2 for 3, HR(4), BB, SB(3).  BA= .277.
Vaun Brown LF- 2 for 4, HR(4).  BA= .283.
Eric Silva RHP- 3.2 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 5 K's. ERA= 4.91.  
Esmerlin Vinicio LHP- 1.1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 4 K's.  ERA= 6.23.
Jose Cruz RHP- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K's.  ERA= 4.50.

Silva has 21 K's and just 4 BB's in 14.2 IP.  McCray has a 5 game hit streak to start the month of May, 11 for 21 with 3 HR's.

  1. 2 of Giants 4 minor league teams are in 1st place in their divisions and 2 are in 2nd. All are over .500 pct.
    5-year college ball, 10th round pick, 24-year old Vaughn Brown may be the best hitter in San Jose, He's also the oldest. He has shown an ability to get better every year and is holding his own in his first professional role.
