Tyler Rogers, RHP. DOB: 12/17/1990. 6'5", 187 lbs. Drafted 2013 Round 10.
2018 AAA: 3-2, 2.13, 67.2 IP, 7.98 K/9, 3.06 BB/9, 2.66 GB/FB.
Even though I am not absolutely sure Tyler Rogers is even in the Giants organization(he should have been a minor league FA when he was not added to the 40 man roster, although he is listed on the Sacramento roster) and submaweeny pitchers throwing frisbees are not exactly the hot market in baseball right now, I'm including Rogers because he just keeps on putting up great numbers in the minors, especially awesome groundball rates. It seems like every bullpen should have one of these guys just for a different look. Hope to see Rogers get the MLB opportunity in 2019.

I have a soft spot for sidearms as I pitched that way through high school. I watched a few videos of Rogers and he really has good movement and a deceptive release. I watched the video of him pitching in the AFL all star game and he had some pretty good prospects guessing and off balance. I say we give Rogers a chance to make this bullpen.
ReplyDeleteWhy don't the Giants invite Rogers to ST -- @ 28 yo he will apparently will play in Sacramento for the 4th year although he has been very effective.
ReplyDeleteSeems like they could use his 2.66 GB/FB with first 7 games against SD and LA both of whom outhomer SF
