Down on the Farm: 06-15-2010

AAA Fresno Grizzlies mauled on the Portland Beavers 9-2:

Tyler Graham- 2 for 5, 3B. BA= .407.
Edgar Renteria- 2 for 2, BB. BA= .750.
John Bowker- 2 for 4, HR(4). BA= .390.
Steve Holm- 3 for 3, 2B, BB. BA= .260.
Madison Bumgarner- 6 IP, 8 H, 2 R, 0 BB, 1 K. ERA= 3.12.

Decent game from MadBum. Would still like to see more K's to indicate dominance. Rent seems ready to come back.....to what?

AA Richmond Flying Squirrel topped the Binghampton Mets 5-2:

Thomas Neal- 1 for 2, 2B, BB, HBP. BA= .284.
Conor Gillaspie- 2 for 4. BA= .242.
Nick Noonan- 1 for 3, 2B, BB. BA= .252.
Clayton Tanner- 6 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 6 K's. ERA= 3.65.

This as Gillaspie's second 2-hit game in a row. Nick Noonan makes his first appearance since May 26.

High A San Jose Giants outslugged the High Desert Mavericks 15-11:

Juan Perez- 3 for 5. BA= .333.
Ehire Adrianza- 3 for 6, SB(16). BA= .262.
Brandon Belt- 4 for 5, 2 HR(8), BB. BA= .394.
Charlie Culberson- 3 for 5, 2B. BA= .306.
Johnny Monell- 3 for 6, 2B. BA= .221.
Joel Weeks- 3 for 4, 2B, BB. BA= .226.
Kyle Woodruff- 2.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K's. ERA= 2.53.

High Desert is an extreme hitting environment. Nice chance for the hitters to pad the old stat line! Belt really needs to move up, though.

Low A Charleston River Dogs edged the Augusta Greenjackets 4-3:

Dan Cook- 3 for 4. BA= .267.
Ryan Lollis- 2 for 4, 2B. BA= .294.

Not much to highlight here.

DSL Giants clubbed the Cubs 13-0:

Christian Paulino- 3 for 5, 2B. BA= .236
Leonardo Fuentes- 1 for 2, 2 BB. BA= .295.
Jesus Galindo- 4 for 5, 2B. BA= .227.
Juan Nova- 5 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 3 K's. ERA- 2.70.
Marvin Barrios- 4 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 6 K's. ERA= 0.00.

Nova is a 6'3", 190 lb 18 yo RHP. A dominant 4 innings from bonus baby Barrios, a 17 yo listed at 6'3", 145lbs. Yikes! I was 6'3", 145 lbs when I was 17 yo and I looked like I came out of a concentration camp, or that guy who Charles Atlas used to rescue in those old ads in the Sporting News!

  1. I definitely think it is time for the minor league shuffle.

Dominguez to SJ; Belt, Perez, Culberson to Richmond; Crawford and Neal to Fresno...

  2. all changes in the minors will occur immediately after the break

    as for rentawreck....deal him

if posey gets sent down, or uribe gets pulled from the everyday lineup...there are gonna be alot of peeved off people

the only other suggestion i would make...and its sad...but try to deal bengie...if not dfa him...then move posey to catch...pablo to first...and uribe to third

  3. I think the Giants are going to need Rent and Bengie before the season is over if they are really going to make a run. In the meantime, it's tough to see playing time for everyone. Notice Aaron Rowand isn't even in the discussion!

  4. At this point, the only reason to keep Belt in San Jose is to allow him to play in the All-Star game and then move him up.

Posey is now hitting .167/.200/.250/.450 in his last 6 games. .067/.125/.067/192 in the 4 games since his 10 game hitting streak ended, and 12 of 13. If this continues, he will be send down, that would not be contributing to us winning.

People want to throw Molina under the bus but don't pay enough attention that he hasn't been healthy for a while, taking a foul tip off his hand in May. That finally required a cortisone shot and he has hit much better since then.

Rowand, meh! Molina has a reason for his poor performance, but Aaron is running out of them.

Still, better to keep him around on the bench than just DFA as some suggest, when he's hot, he can carry a team, like he did for us in April and early May.

  5. Keeping Belt and Perez in SJ so they can play in the ASG is, in my mind, a valid argument. Atta-boys are well deserved, and they should get a chance to basque a bit if they have earned it. An extra couple of weeks will not hurt anything.
