24. Rayner Arias OF. DOB: 4/29/2006. B-R, T-R. 6' 2", 185 lbs. Rule 5 Eligible Dec. 2027.
2025(ACL): .242/.333/.366, 3 HR, 4 SB, 8.4 BB%, 25.8 K%, 178 PA.
2025(A): .040/.133/.040, SB, 6.7 BB%, 30.0 K%, 30 PA.
Arias was one of the top rated international prospects in the 2023 cycle and received a nearly $3 M bonus from the Giants. He got off to a blazing start to his pro career in the DSL but suffered a wrist injury which ended his season early. He missed most of 2024 with another wrist injury. He was back in the ACL in 2025 with tepid results. After a promotion to A San Jose, he got just one hit in 30 PA and found himself back in the ACL. His season ended on July 24 presumably from another injury. 2026 now looms as a pivotal season in which it seems imperative that he stay healthy and find some traction, especially at the plate.
What's with young players – Arias won't be 20 until the end of April – and their injuries? Are they being pushed too hard? What's too hard for this very young man?
ReplyDeleteOn another front, Mets making a statement: we're all in for 2026: add Bichette and Robert within hours!
Meanwhile, Buster gets ready to – what? – be on the ballot for the Hall of Fame in the next class...
The Giants have had a string of frustrating injuries to their top international prospects. Hopefully that ended with Arias as Jhonny Level and Josuar Gonzalez have managed to stay healthy so far. Fingers crossed for Luis Hernandez who might be the best of them all. I don't think any of us here would be happy with Bichette's contract for the Giants and Robert has done nothing over the past two seasons. Not sure why we're grinding our teeth over them.
DeleteNot them specifically – just do something? Get off the snide? Shoot for a record above .500?
DeleteFor sure the Giants don't want those contracts – the Buyers are bidding up good but not great players.
Do you think this team is better than 2025's?
OK, not Bichette or Robert. Do you like Tucker's contract better? Yes, I think the team is already better than 2025. Full season of Devers. Adames is past feeling like he has to justify his contract on every PA. Rotation is deeper. Several younger players ready to step up.
Delete....Lee is over thinking he is a power hitter....
DeletePlainly they need to move away from that PGE substation.
