Spring Training Game Wrap 3/6/2016: Dodgers 5 Giants 2

Jeff Samardzija became the first Giants pitcher to go 3 innings this spring and was dominant, but Carl Crawford was a one-man offense for the Dodgers who came away with the W.  Key Lines:

Brandon Crawford DH- 1 for 3, HR(1).  BA= .125.  Crawford has been limited to DH duties so far due to a barking shoulder.  Today, he came out of a mini-slump to hit his first dinger of the spring and hopefully the first of many on the season.

Mac Williamson PH-DH- 1 for 1, 2B.  BA= .400.  The longshot keeps getting shorter.

Gorkys Hernandez CF- 1 for 2.  BA= .455.  Hernandez continues to make his case for a roster spot.

Jeff Samardzija RHP- 3 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 5 K's.  ERA= 3.60.  Shark started the game by striking out the side in the first inning.  His official FB velocity was 94 MPH, but Alex P of CSNBA says a scouts gun had him at 97.  Thanks to Covechatter for posting the Alex P tweets.  Good stuff!

Clayton Blackburn RHP- 3 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 3.86.  Blackburn gave up 2 runs in his second inning of work.  You know what I like here?   I like that he came back out for another inning and shut it down.  More good stuff!

Josh Osich and Steven Okert both pitched scoreless innings to bounceback from rough spring debuts.

The Giants infield turned 4 DP's.  Too much good stuff!

The Giants make the trek, and I mean trek, out to Surprise tomorrow where Jake Peavy will face Colby Lewis  of the Rangers.

Denard Span apparently has some arm issues that are not considered too serious, but his debut in CF has been pushed back again.

Johnny Cueto threw today and pronounced himself ready to pitch on Wednesday as planned.

Matt Cain played catch from 90 feet and will start throwing off a mound again soon.
