Down on the Farm: 8/5/2025

AAA:  Sacramento River Cats topped the Sugarland Space Cowboys 10-9.

Drew Gilbert RF- 2 for 5, 2B, 3B, BB.  BA= .500.
Bryce Eldridge 1B- 3 for 4, HR(11), BB.  BA= .264.
Jesus Rodriguez DH- 0 for 3, 2 BB.  BA= .182.
Brett Wisely SS- 2 for 4, SB(7).  BA= .235.
Logan Porter C- 1 for 3, HR(5), BB.  BA= .219.
Marco Luciano LF- 0 for 2, 3 BB.  BA= .219.
Blade Tidwell RHP- 5 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 9 K's.  ERA= 3.60.

Nice games for trade deadline acquisitions Gilbert and Tidwell.  I watched a video on The Youtube today by the guys from Prospects Live.  They absolutely torched Buster Posey's trade deadline moves in particular and his POBO tenure in general.  I think some of the founders of Prospects Live were/are Giants fans.  I was kind of shocked because I liked Buster's deadline moves and think he got some interesting players in return, including Gilbert and Tidwell.  Although Jose Butto' is not as good right now as Tyler Rogers, he has many years of contract control and a straight up trade for him would not have been a terrible trade.  Add in Gilbert and Tidwell and it's an impressive haul.  Camilo Doval has 2 years of control left so his return was not as impressive but I really, really like Carlos De La Rosa, the 17 yo lefty whose ceiling is sky high and might just end up being the best player out of all 3 trades.  As for Buster's overall performance as POBO, I'll defer that to later. Perhaps we'll do a 1 year review after the season ends.  I will just say I like his boldness and decisiveness but I do have concerns about the long term risk he's taken on with several big contracts.

AA:  Richmond Flying Squirrels edged out the Erie Seawolves 1-0.

Scott Bandura LF- 2 for 4, HR(2).  BA= .234.
Adrian Sugastey C- 2 for 4.  BA= .218.
Nick Zwack LHP- 5 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 1.26.
Will Bednar RHP- 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 5.97.
Tyler Myrick RHP- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K, Save(9).  ERA= 3.54.

A+:  Eugene Emeralds shut out the Spokane Indians 2-0.

Jack Payton RF- 2 for 4, 2B, SB(4).  BA= .236.
Damian Bravo LF- 3 for 3.  BA= 1.000.
Dylan Carmouche LHP- 7 IP, 6 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 7 K's, 8/2 GO/AO.  ERA= 2.47.
Austin Strickland RHP- 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K's.  ERA= 4.67.

Damian Bravo was a 15'th round draft pick this year out of Texas Tech.  Interesting initial placement in A+. This was Dylan Carmouche's second scoreless start in a row covering 13 innings.  He allowed 1 run in 5.1 IP in his previous start so 1 run in his last 16.1 IP.

A:  San Jose Giants crushed the Visalia Rawhide 13-0.

Gavin Kilen SS- 0 for 4, HBP.  BA= .000.
Johnny Level 2B- 1 for 3, 2 BB.  BA= .211.
Dakota Jordan CF- 2 for 5, 2 HR(14).  BA= .317.
Walker Martin 3B- 2 for 5, 2B.  BA= .251.
Trevor Cohen RF- 1 for 4, BB.  BA= .250.
Jeremiah Jenkins 1B- 2 for 4, 2B.  BA= .243.
Daniel Rogers C- 1 for 4.  BA= .250.
Hunter Dryden RHP- 5 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 7 K's.  ERA= 2.33.
R J Dabovich RHP- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 BB, 3 K's.  ERA= 0.00.
Ryan Murphy RHP- 1  IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 0.00.
Fernando Vasquez RHP- 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 0.00.

A lot going on here.  Draftees Kilen and Cohen come online.  Daniel Rogers is a UDFA from this cycle.  And whoa!  A Ryan Murphy sighting!  I had completely forgotten him.

DSL:  Mets Orange outscored Giants Orange 13-10.

Miguel Caraballo C(16 yo)- 2 for 4, 3B, BB.  BA= .271.
Yulian Barreto 2B(17 yo)- 3 for 5.  BA= .320.
Djean Macares CF(17 yo)- 2 for 4, 3B, BB.  BA= .230.
Fernando Pena DH(18 yo)- 2 for 4, 2B, BB.  BA= .281.

DSL:  Arizona Red smashed Giants Black 16-0.

As you might guess, there is absolutely nothing to see here.
