Game Wrap 6/6/2012: Giants 6 Padres 5

Those Pesky Padres gave the Giants another run for their money today, but this time the bullpen hung on for the W.  Key Lines:

Gregor Blanco- 2 for 5, HR(2).  BA= .284.  The ball carries better in day games at Petco, but any ball hit out of the yard to RF there is an impressive feat.

Melky Cabrera- 2 for 5, 2B.  BA= .366.   Another day at the office for Melky.

Madison Bumgarner- 6 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 4 BB, 4 K's, GO/AO= 9/2.  ERA= 3.26.  Bumgarner fell short of a QS in this one, but the offense picked him up.

Sergio Romo- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K's, Save(3).  ERA= 0.54.  Gutsy performance by Romo.  He was already wearing a brace on his R knee and apparently felt something in the left knee as he was starting to warm up in the bullpen.  The trainer had to go down there and help him put another brace on the left knee.  You could tell his knees were bothering him on the mound, but he toughed it out.

The NL West leading Dodgers came from behind to top the Phillies again 6-5 to remain 4 games up on the Giants.

Matt Cain goes against Jason Marquis in the rubber game of the series tomorrow afternoon.

  1. With all this discussion of the fences being moved in at bigger ballparks do you think the giants will ever do it? They probably won't right now, because of their pitching and that their competitive but in the future could/will they. Does moving in the fences effect the ballpark in a negative way in terms of facilities and/or looks.

    1. I think the Giants already moved some fences in after the first couple of seasons in the park. I really, really hope they don't do anything with the park. It's the most perfect park in baseball just the way it is! It is not as pitcher friendly as commonly believed. It's tough to hit dingers there, yes, but it makes up for that by allowing a higher BA due to the small foul area. Run production is actually close to neutral.
