Down on the Farm: 6/1/2012

AAA  Sacramento River Cats defeated the Fresno Grizzlies 10-7:

Conor Gillaspie(3B)- 2 for 5.  BA= .348.
Francisco Peguero(RF)- 2 for 5.  BA= .229.
Charlie Culberson(2B)- 2 for 5, 2B, SB(2).  BA= .272.
Brock Bond(DH)- 3 for 4, 2B.  BA= .412.
Jackson Williams(C)- 3 for 4, HR(4).  BA= .243.

Still gotta root for Brock Bond to get a chance someday.  Fresno has the best record in the PCL by a wide margin.

AA  Richmond vs Erie suspended after 2 innings with the Squirrels leading 1-0.

High A  Bakersfield Blaze scorched the San Jose Giants 10-2:

Ricky Oropesa(1B)- 2 for 4.  BA= .259.
Jarrett Parker(LF)- 3 for 4, 3B, SB(12).  BA= .234.
Billy Hamilton(SS, Blaze)- 2 for 3, 3 BB, 3 SB(60).  BA= .324.

Reds fans gotta be excited about Hamilton, who stole 103 bases last year in the MWL and is on a pace for about 150 this year.

Low A  Asheville Tourists downed the Augusta Greejackets 6-1:

Shawn Payne(LF)- 2 for 4, 2 SB(16).  BA= .292.
Joseph Staley(C)- 2 for 3, 2B.  BA= .229.
Derek Law(RHP)- 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K's.  ERA= 2.67.
Jacob Dunnington(RHP)- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 0.00.

Dunnington makes his 2012 debut.

  1. Latest mock draft on BA has the Dodgers taking Hensley at #18 with Shankbone fave Addison Russell going at #19 and the Giants grabbbing Nick Traveiso at #20. I'd be happy with that.

    1. according to Jonathon Mayo, HS pitcher Zach Eflin has been frequently associated with the Giants.. His mock draft has the G's taking him. interesting that Marcus Stroman has dropped in some mock drafts..

  2. Good to Dunnington again.

    150 SB? Wow!

What numbers do we hope to see Oropesa at the end of the season?

    1. I would hope to see Ricky with a BA>.270 and double digit HR's by the end of the season. Modest but OK for his professional debut.

  3. Dunnington pitched wonderfully last season and was sorely missed by SJ when he went down with a 2011-ending injury. Hopefully he can bounce back, but I question the durability of a guy his size.
