The Giants scored 2 runs off Christopher Sanchez LHP in the first inning and it looked like Logan Webb and the bullpen would make it stand up but Ryan Walker blew the Save for a walk-off Phillies win. Key Lines:
Heliot Ramos LF- 3 for 4, BB, R. BA= .286. Ramos did his job on the leadoff role, reaching base 4 times, and scored the Giants first run.
Matt Chapman 3B- 2 for 4, 2B, BB. BA= .281. It's great that Ramos and Chapman scored 2 runs in the first inning but they combined to reach base a total of 5 other times and were left stranded.
Casey Schmitt DH- 2 for 4. BA= .295. 3 of the first 4 hitters in the lineup reached base a total of 9 times. The next 3 batters in the lineup, Rafael Devers 1B, Willy Adames SS and Jung Hoo Lee CF/RF went 0 for 11 with a walk.
Logan Webb RHP- 7 IP, 7 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 6 K's, 9/2 GO/AO. ERA= 4.30. Classic Webb Gem. Unfortunately it was a case of classic Webb run support too.
Ryan Walker RHP- 0.2 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 0 BB, 1 K, BS(2). ERA= 4.26. I can see why Tony Vitello was willing to put Walker out there to protect a 1-run lead but I am pretty sure there were a lot of fans like me who were none to confident in the situation. Walker didn't have a good release point and kept sailing his pitches up and away for easy takes. He put himself into positions where he had to throw strikes and he paid for it, and so did we.
