Down on the Farm: 4/15/2026

AAA:  Sacramento River Cats topped the Tacoma Rainiers 7-6(6 innings).

Bryce Eldridge 1B- 1 for 3, HR(2), BB.  BA= .358.
Buddy Kennedy 3B- 2 for 3, HBP.  BA= .364.
Sam Hentges LHP- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K.  ERA= 0.00.
Joel Peguero RHP- 0.2 IP, 2 H, 4 R, 2 BB, 1 K.  ERA= 13.50.
Carson Whisenhunt LHP- 3.2 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 4 K's.  ERA= 4.11.

The game was called after 6 innings, I assume due to weather issues.

AA:  Richmond Flying Squirrels outscored the Hartford Yard Goats 13-11.

Scott Bandura LF- 2 for 5, 2B, HR(1).  BA= .341.
Charlie Szykowny 3B- 3 for 5, 2B, 3B.  BA= .302.
Sabin Ceballos 1B- 3 for 4, 2 HR(2), BB.  BA= .265.
Maui Ahuna SS- 2 for 5, 2 2B.  BA= .244.
Jonah Cox RF- 1 for 4, BB, SB(7).  BA= .344.
Tyler Vogel RHP- 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K, Save(3).  ERA= 0.00.

Mo'ne Davis threw out the first pitch for this game to Scott Bandura who was her catcher for the 2014 Little League World Series Team.  Great story.  And on Jackie Robinson Day no less!  Sabin Ceballos had a surprisingly bad season last year but seemed to finally find traction in August. He is having a much better start to this season.

A+:  Eugene Emeralds outlasted the Everett Aquasox 6-5(10 innings).

Tyler Cohen CF- 2 for 4, BB, SB(5).  BA= .195.
Gavin Kilen SS- 1 for 5, 2B.  BA= .349.
Dakota Jordan DH- 2 for 5, SB(2).  BA= .286.
Carlos Gutierrez LF- 2 for 5, 3B, 2 SB(3).  BA= .226.
Lisbel Diaz RF- 2 for 4, SF, 3 SB(3).  BA= .263.
Tyler Switalski LHP- 4 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 4 BB, 5 K's.  ERA= 0.00.
Ben Peterson RHP- 1.1 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K's.  ERA= 3.00.
Ryan Vanderhei RHP- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 4.76.

A:  San Jose Giants crushed the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes 16-3.

Jhonny Level SS- 2 for 6, 2B, SB(4).  BA= .459.
Junior Barajas C- 2 for 5, 2B, HR(4), BB. BA= .333.
Hayden Jatczak 1B- 2 for 6, 2B.  BA= .343.
Damian Bravo LF- 2 for 6, HR(2).  BA= .200.
Cam Maldonado RF- 2 for 4, HR(1), BB.  BA= .211.
Dario Reynoso 3B- 2 for 4, 2B, BB.  BA= .321.
Cody Delvecchio RHP- 4.2 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 3 K's.  ERA= 2.31.
Dylan Carter RHP- 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K's.  ERA= 4.26.

Junior Barajas looks like a hitter.  Dario Reynoso is on the thin, wiry side but made the most consistent contact in the Tuesday game I attended.  Cam Maldonado looked tentative at the plate on Tuesday so good to see him get two hits including a home run.

  1. 3 exciting wins plus a blowout for San Jose.
Richmond scored 5 in the 9th to win, Sacramento scored early and held on, and Eugene won in the tenth.
Anyone remember a farm start like this. all teams lead their league/division?

    1. The Giants seem to have more true prospect talent up and down the levels than in recent memory. Maybe when Posey, Bum and Crawford were all prospects but even then it was more concentrated in few standout prospects.

    2. Agreed!

You could include Belt and also Sandoval and Brian Wilson into that list, bit all the same it was a could select guys.

Right now, it's select Prospects but also entire teams that are outperforming (offensively). Pretty good time to be a Hound!
