What say you?
Maybe Trent Harris should be added to list? I thought the Giants were high on him.. Great work on the list Doc. Thank you and Happy holidays!
ReplyDeleteLooks like I already had Trent Harris at #29. My bad.
DeleteDoc > I think Thomas Gavello > Catcher > should be rated higher. I believe we could see him on the major league roster by 2027 and/or depending on injuries sometime in 2026 > believe he has most all of the right stuff!
ReplyDeleteRichard in Winnipeg
Intrigued as to who has had the biggest “Fall from grace”. Are we looking at Crawford? Assuming he is a dud now?
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't call it a fall from grace. It's just the reality that dude had a series of horrific injuries that most pitchers don't come back from.
DeleteLet’s go to the fall from grace then.
ReplyDeleteProspects who made your top say 10-15 who now sit as Honorable mentions. Are there any barring Reggie?
Maybe Walker Martin? I don't remember exactly where I had him last year. Will Bednar makes it back from nowhere into the Top 50 on the strength of scouting reports of his fastball hitting triple digits.
DeleteNice to see you mention Bednar after we talked about him this time last year. So much potential but yet to see this consistently.
DeleteBednar always seemed to me the poster boy for the over ambitious coach. He was rode hard and put away wet for college wins that meant little to him but a big payday for his coach
DeleteI thought that Onil Perez, C was consistent as an impact hitter in A+. Though he face planted in AA, I think his bat could still develop.
ReplyDeleteIf Maui Ahuna does not make the top 50, my opinion is that he should at least be considered as a honorable mention.
ReplyDeleteI meant to put Ahuna in HM so will add him now. Until he proves he can hit professional pitching, which in my opinion he has not done, I don't consider him a top 50 Giants prospect.
DeleteAny consideration of Jeremiah Jenkins for HM? He had decent stats and still has the size and potential to hit for more power.
ReplyDeleteI thought about it. I am not opposed to adding him. Thank you. Done!
DeleteI might need to find spots for Dylan Carmouche LHP and Darien Smith RHP in the Top 50. I am sure they are better prospects than at least two I currently have on the list.
ReplyDeleteDid John Michael Bertrand have a "bad" 2025 that dropped him from #21 out of the Top 50?
ReplyDeleteHe pitched most of the year for Richmond when they weren't playing well, then started 3 games for Sacramento in September getting a couple of wins.
OTOH, this could be a good sign that the Giants have at least 50 players that are "better"!
Bertrand is another tough one to evaluate. Has pitched pretty well on his way up the minors but an older prospect and scouting reports don't love his stuff. I'll say the Top 50 is way more competitive this year than any recent years.
