Game time temp was 81 F with wind blow out to LF at 11 MPH which may explain some of the offensive fireworks. Great game for filling out the stat sheets. Walker Martin really needs to start finding traction as a prospect. Hopefully the triple and HR serve as a springboard. This is the first subpar game for Greg Farone. I found a scouting report on him. He is a big lefty at 6'6", 240 lbs. Per Future Stars Series: "Workhorse frame with simple mechanics. .....the fastball.....generates plenty of hop with command. It's a bulldog mentality with the fastball up to 95 MPH. He also has a curveball, slider and changeup. He'll need to develop more conviction for each of them...."
Rookie ACL: Giants blanked the Rockies 6-0(7 innings).

Alix Hernandez RHP- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K. ERA= 11.57.
Who is Dayson Croes? He is 25 yo B-L, T-R infielder signed out of Indy ball on April 30. He put up BA's of .351 and .342 in 2023 and 2024 for Winnepeg of the American Association.
This was Bo Davidson's 12th multi hit game of the year, 5 of them with 3 hits, 12 extra base hits.
ReplyDeleteHe leads the NW League in average, 2nd in SLG, and 4th in OPS (qualifiers). He's 3rd in triples with the fewest PAs (30th).
He was also the leader in about everything last year in SJ but didn't have qualifying number of ABs.
Hope they let him enjoy himself a bit before being thrown into the Eastern League...
I watched Farone pitch during the Giants-Rangers Spring Breakout game. He was impressive, recording 96-97 on the radar gun.
ReplyDeleteThat's 2 bad starts for Carson Seymour, after looking like "... a strong case to be first in line" (4/19) and "possibly ... ready to step into the Giants rotation any time needed" (5/1).
ReplyDeleteHe gone from good April 27th to not good in less than 2 weeks — could there be an undisclosed injury?
Since his first start March 28th, his earned runs allowed has gone:
0-0-1-1-2-2-5-6, including 3 HRs in his last 2 games after allowing none in his first 6 games (although in the last of those 6 "good" games he gave up 7 hits, a hit batter, and a walk April 27th).
Probably just the nature of the PCL. Very tough place to pitch well consistently.
DeleteSeymour is one of those guys with as crowded as the field is at pitching could be a trade candidate for a rental bat at the deadline.
DeleteDidn’t really expect Tibbs to hit such a wall in A+. I know, I know, it’s only May. But still ….
ReplyDeleteOTOH Davidson looking more and more like the real thing. What a great story.
