  1. BA released their Midseason Top 100. 5 Giants made it in: Bickford (50), Arroyo (56), Beede (81), Shaw (83), Mejia (91).

    1. What happened, someone spike their kool-aid?

And I'm not complaining. I was peaved when we traded away Keury Mella and he went from 5th best Giants prospect to 5th best Reds prospect and Top-100 while the four Giants prospects ostensibly ahead of them didn't make the list. That alone told me the narrative was controlling the process, not the quality of the prospects.

So to see this... I'm happy, but it's kind of odd considering the narrative has been so negative toward the Giants prospects for years now.

    2. That is about right. No elite prospects, but a very deep system. Personally, I would rank Lucius Fox in there somewhere, maybe even ahead of Bickford and Arroyo. He's more than holding his own in the SAL, a VERY tough league for hitters, at age 19. Eric Longenhagen at Fangraphs, who is not exactly profuse in his praise of prospects, especially Giants prospects, said Fox is the one player in their system he would consider untouchable at the trade deadline.

  2. Shaw goes 1-5 with the game winning hit to walk off in Richmond. Just keep playing kid!

Hinjosa is in the 100-150 group and rising fast. Only lacking the sheen of the "top prospect" tab as a draftee. Next year he'll have plenty of opportunity to continue this reign.

  3. I didn't write this, I stole it from the Ritzo:

    Arenado’s Power Surge

Over his last eight games, Jonah Arenado has produced nine extra-base hits – six doubles and three home runs. Arenado is batting .343 (12-for-35) during the eight-game stretch with a .771 slugging percentage. Arenado leads all current San Jose Giants in doubles (23), home runs (10), RBI’s (38) and hits (82)

I thought it was interesting because his big brother went down to San Jose to watch him play and seemed to be really happy about the way he's playing.

    1. Geez Moses! Do you read my notes or do you just come here and write comments? I've been talking about Arenado's power surge for 3 or 4 days now!

    2. Yes. And other people write these things too. I think it's interesting to see confirmation between people whom I respect and will, at times, point it out without a lot of explanation. So I thought it would be interesting because of that. Plus his brother went down to San Jose on the break.

      So I brought them together.

    3. Just kidding you there, Moses. Good job. Yeah, In my mind Arenado's stock is taking a big jump up in my mind. His brother's phenomenal success gives us something extra to dream on here. BTW, he's physically bigger than Nolan so there's that too!

  4. Oh, and Bickford was selected for the All-Stars Futures Game. Pretty cool.

  5. Anyone think a package of Mejia, Coonrad and Blackburn could get a deal done for Andrew Miller? Hurts our minor league depth but I think it's reasonable considering the other names we'd be hanging on to while getting Miller for an additional two seasons at a reasonable rate.

    1. Not a chance. 1. The Yankees are not going to be sellers. 2. Even if they were, the price would be much higher than that package.

Now, let's all say it again so we don't forget, the Yankees are not selling and Andrew Miller is not coming here!
