Tyler Cyr RHP- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K.  ERA= 0.00.

I know they play sillyball up in Lancaster, but yikes, Matt Cain!  And LOL Craig Whitaker(our Roger Craig Whitaker?) off Baggs twitter feed via Joe Ritzo:  A rehab start in Lancaster is like driver's ed on the 405.  Nothing good is going to come of it."

Low A  Delmarva Shorebirds blanked the Augusta Greenjackets 3-0(game shortened to 7.5 innings due to rain):

Conner Kaden RHP- 5 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 4 K's.  ERA= 4.37.

I believe this is the 4'th consecutive game the GJ's have been shut out.

Short Season  Spokane Indians edged out the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes 4-3:

Heath Quinn RF- 2 for 4.  BA= .318.
Bryan Reynolds CF- 1 for 3, HR(2), BB, 2 SB(2).  BA= .390.

Is Bryan Reynolds the 5 tool stud CF we've all been waiting for lo these many years?  He's sure looking like it so far, but the NWL.

Rookie AZL  Giants were idle.

  1. Afraid is 5 in a row blanking for Augusta

  2. Hey DrB, just wanted to make a quick comment on the new S-K outfield. Heath Quinn was THE guy I really wanted (I know you left positive comments on him leading up to the draft too), he seems like a [smaller] Mac Williamson type. I was very surprised to see Reynolds fall to the Giants, though not surprised at all to see them jump on him!

Am I alone in thinking Reynolds fits the mold of Gary Brown without the funky batting mechanics (and hopefully stubbornness)? Maybe he doesn't have Brown's speed, and I know GB was lauded for his defensive abilities... but I just have this feeling that Reynolds could make for a solid all-around MLB CF. Nothing flashy, maybe not a standout in any one area, but a guy who can keep his average around .270 with enough power to be a regular in the lineup. If his CF defense stands the test of time, he could absolutely be the guy the Giants have been searching for. Dreaming on a homegrown CF sure is a good feeling...

    1. I see Reynolds as being a more well rounded prospect than Brown. Brown probably had more speed, but Reynolds is bigger, switch-hits, seems to have more raw power. I could see him developing into a .270 BA with 20 HR's and 15 SB which if he can handle CF on defense would be a very nice package. Really, really like the trio of OF's the Giants drafted in the first 10 rounds, Reynolds, Quinn and Brusa.

    2. I just think Reynolds will hit the ball with way more authority than Gary Brown ever did.

  3. doc, youve been to games in lancaster when its hot and the wind is blowing
he was just trying to get work in and he did. he threw 93 pitches
ill be really concerned if the same thing happens at the met

    1. I think you can acknowledge the difficulty of pitching in Lancaster and still be concerned about Cainer.
