CJ Hinojosa SS- 4 for 6, HR(1).  BA= .294.
Chris Shaw 1B- 3 for 5, 2 2B.  BA= .435.

Ray Black RHP- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 5.34.

Hope to see Hinojosa and Shaw on BA's Hot Sheet.  Giants seem to like pitchers who can help themselves with the bat.  Gage would seem to fit that bill.  Moncrief's PH HR was a Grand Slam.

  1. I'm really happy with the top-pitching prospects (MLB.com ranking) performances this year. Their Top-3 pitching prospects -- Beede, Bickford & Coonrod -- are all motoring right along with Bickford and Coonrod being promoted earlier this season and I'm (hoping) that Beede moves up to AAA soon because, well, there's some deadweight there I think the organization needs to move on from...

Also, speaking of pitchers, I haven't read much about Heston, but he's got the best ERA of the 10 (or more) game starters in Sacramento so perhaps he's worked out his control difficulties.

  2. Oh, also, Rodolfo Martinez. You had him as the #17 prospect. According to MLB.com Martinez now works in the high 90s and has hit 102MPH. The only pitcher in the Giants organization that has better velocity is Ray Black. AND his pitches aren't straight-and-flat, having both cut-and-sink to them.

Last, are we going to get a mid-season prospect re-shuffling or updates over the All-Star break?

  3. The big club sucked the minors dry and with a good result. As guys get healthy, they will be facing some interesting issues as the guys the Giants have forced to promote have done well. Arroyo, Hinojasa, Shaw are 3/4s of another great infield and it isn't like there a whole lot of openings. Meija is pitching better, as is Blackburn, and let's not forget Gagne when you talk about guys like Coonrod, Beede and Bickford. That's an entire rotation (and with Peavy pitching pretty darn well most of the season, that is awesome to have in AA/AAA). Black has been on fire too and Okert has pitched well so its not like the pen is a huge liability to them.

Love what this management has done.

  4. Is Gorkys on the 40 man roster? Seems like he might help right now.
