Blake Swihart, C. B-S, T-R. DOB: 4/3/1992. 6'2", 205 lbs.
2105: .274/.319/.392, 5 HR, 4 SB, 5.8 BB%, 24.9 K%, 309 PA.
Blake Swihart is an offensive minded catcher who was supposed to spend last year at AAA. He was pressed into MLB service early due to injuries on the MLB team and ended up appearing in 84 games starting in May. He started off slowly with a .225 BA in May but increased that to .258 in June, .269 in July and then broke out with a .373 in August before falling back to a .257 in September. He's been a but up and down in the minors always hitting for a decent BA, sometimes with power, sometimes not. He appears to have a lot more in the power tank.
He should be the starting catcher for the Red Sox in 2015 and is a solid choice for a late round catcher draft pick in all but the shallowest leagues.
