AAA  Sacramento River Cats pounded the Tacoma Rainiers 9-4:

Darren Ford(CF)- 2 for 5, HR(10).  BA= .265.
Kevin Frandsen(3B)- 2 for 3, HR(3), BB, HBP, SB(4).  BA= .292.

Matt Gage(LHP)- 5.1 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 2 BB, 8 K's.  ERA= 3.18.

This was Gage's worst game in terms of runs allowed since his callup to AA, but it was his best strikeout game.  Slater continues to master AA pitching.

High A  Visalia Rawhide whipped the San Jose Giants 6-4 in 11 innings:

Daniel Carbonell(LF)- 1 for 6, HR(3).  BA= .261.

Tyler Rogers(RHP)- 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K's.  ERA= 1.52.

San Jose relief pitches deserve some sort of special award at the end of the season with a hellacious number of prolonged extra-inning games.  Looks like the Giants are going to let Arroyo complete a very successful high A campaign.

  1. Wow, Gage was just very unlucky in this start, only 5 hits and 2 BB given up, that don't normally lead to 5 runs allowed. Great start otherwise. Did the bullpen fail him?

  2. Since we are not too far from September call ups do you think Chris Strraton gets the call this year?

    1. As I've said before, 40 man roster limitations will be the biggest determiner of who gets called up. I do not see evidence in Stratton's record this year that he is ready to come in a be a difference maker down the stretch.
