Down on the Farm: 9/4/2014

The Akron Rubber Ducks evened the playoff series with the Richmond Flying Squirrels taking Game 2  by a score of 5-1:

Daniel Carbonell(CF)- 3 for 4, 2B.
Kelby Tomlinson(SS)- 2 for 4, 2B, SB.
Jack Snodgrass(LHP)- 4.2 IP, 9 H, 5 R, 3 BB, 3 K's.
Kyle Crick- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R,  1 BB, 3 K's.

Tiny sample size but Carbonell has not missed a beat moving up to AA, and facing playoff caliber teams to boot.  Tomlinson continues his interesting season.  It's quite clear that Kyle Crick has been moved to the bullpen, at least for the EL playoffs.

Ty Blach is the starter for tomorrow's game.

  1. I really wonder if Carbonell is our startnig LF next year (so we don't do any big time signings). Tomlinson is another candidate for the SS rotation (great problem to have).

Dr. B, do you really think Crick has moved into the pen long term? That would kind of shock me---although he wasn't lights out, he was pretty good as a starter and everyone wanted him so if the Giants thought he wasn't that good they could have ditched him. Plus, we have Strickland and Cordier (plus a bunch of others) who are already pretty dominant as relievers so that would seem a waste.

    1. I would hope this is just for the EL playoffs with Crick and that they have not given up on him as a starter. Way too early for that, IMO.

  2. Any word about Cabrera? I have not heard word one since about a week after the accident.
