Down on the Farm: 4/28/2013

AAA  Reno Aces pounded the Fresno Grizzlies 11-2:

Francisco Peguero(RF)- 2 for 4, 2B, HR(2). BA= .434.
Juan Perez(3B)- 2 for 4.  BA= .293.
Mike Kickham(LHP)- 5 IP, 11 H, 8 R, 6 ER, 0 BB, 7 K's.  ERA= 7.94.

Excellent peripherals, terrible results for Kickham.  He has a long history of underperforming his peripheral stats going back to college.

AA  Richmond Flying Squirrels defeated the New Britain Rock Cats 4-2:

Ehire Adrianza(SS)- 2 for 5, 2B.  BA= .240.
Joe Panik(2B)- 2 for 4, 2B, 3B.  BA= .304.
Andrew Susac(DH)- 2 for 4, HR(3).  BA= .288.
Brett Krill(RF)- 2 for 4.  BA= .265.
Chris Gloor(LHP)- 4 IP, 8 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 4 K's.  ERA= 6.62.
Tom Vessella(LHP)- 4 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K.  ERA= 1.08.

Panik is really heating up.  Adrianza's BA has slipped a bit, but he is still hitting better than expected for the level and difficulty of the league.

High A  San Jose Giants topped the Modesto Nuts 5-3:

Devin Harris(DH)- 1 for 4, HR(8).  BA= .284.
Mac Williamson(RF)- 2 for 4, 2B, HR(3).  BA= .220.
Jeff Arnold(C)- 1 for 4, HR(3).  BA= .291.
Bobby Haney(SS)- 2 for 4, 2B.  BA= .233.
Austin Fleet(RHP)- 4 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 6 K's.  ERA= 1.84.

Nice to see a good game from Mac.

Low A  Lexington Legends beat the Augusta Greenjackets 7-4:

Nothing to see here, IMO.

  1. Kickham & Heston are struggling in the early going but so is Zach Wheeler (0-1 5.63 ERA 15BB 23IP) pitching for Las Vegas, one of the top pitching prospects in the game. The PCL is a hitters league, so Gary Brown's struggles under the mendoza line is very surprising. Its nice to see Pegs followup a good spring training with a quick start out of the gate though. It looks like Pegs is passing G Brown as the top OF prospect in their system.

    1. Yup, the PCL, especially in the Southwest is brutal for pitchers. Think of it as pitching in a smaller version of Coors Field every single game.

  2. Okie-dokie, time to load up the bandwagon for Panik. This kid seems like a grinder with upside. If he keeps producing in the Sally that bodes well for him as Scoots successor a couple of years down the line.

And Pegs, wow, way to come back from the DL.
