A Quality Start for Blade Tidwell and a huge game at the plate for Bryce Eldridge led the Giants to an easy win in St. Louis. Key Lines:
Bryce Eldridge 1B- 2 for 4, 2B, HR(17), BB, 2 R, 3 RBI. Bryce Eldridge is having a monster finish to his season. Slash line .327/.422/.558 in September so far, .327/.414/.558 over his last 30 games. Sal Stewart, who has 200 more AB's, probably still has a solid lead for ROY but Eldridge should be in the conversation.
Turner Hill LF- 2 for 4, HR(1), BB, R, 3 RBI. BA= .250. Nice game for Hill who had been slumping.
Christian Koss SS- 3 for 5, 2 RBI. BA= .240. Koss is hot. .435/.480/.565 over his last 7 game, .333/.382/.510 over his last 15 and .276/.330/.418 over his last 30.
Blade Tidwell RHP- 6.2 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 4 K's. ERA= 4.56. This was Tidwell's longest start of the season and first Quality Start. He has shown some resilience when coming off poor starts.
Anthony Molina RHP tries to bounce back from a disaster start and get the Giants a series win against Matthew Liberatore LHP who comes in with an ERA of 5.53. The series finale starts at 10:15 AM PDT.
And just like that we avoided losing 100. The team shows many good signs.
ReplyDeleteTidwell has done enough to earn a spot in the next baseball season's rotation but, he should try to develop a secondary pitch to complement his sweeper. Getting to the lab is priority #1 this offseason.

ReplyDeleteCould Koss be an everyday SS, or at least a 130-gamer?...and look at Dubon in ATL box scores for week or two...you will see him at 3B, CF. LF, SS...hitting everywhere from 2-6 and usually producing

That will be quite a blood bath.
as i say to my wife when trouble is brewing, i'll burn that bridge when i get to it. seriously, let's accept that at least one player will be a Giant killer on another team.

As a Giants fan who has been following the big league club extensively since 2000 and been following the minor leagues extensively for 20 years, I am more excited than I have ever been since the World Series years. I have always gotten excited about homegrown players, and I’ve certainly had my heart broken a lot by so many busts. But I noticed before the trade deadline how flush the farm system was, and obviously it got richer after the trade deadline so much so that now it’s nationally considered that their farm system is flush. Hill, Cox and Gilbert in the OF, Cavanaugh, Susac and Rodriguez at catcher. Still got Schmidt who still is pretty young. Eldridge looks like the face of the franchise for the next 10 years. And that’s just hitters currently on the big league club who have legit chances to be major leaguers. For the OF we got Bo Davidson who looks ready for a big league chance right now. The equally tooled up Dakota Jordan is right behind him. Both of those guys are much more talented and higher rated than the trio currently on the big league club. Parks Harber can play corner OF and corner IF and definitely looks ready for a shot now. Diego Velazquez is another young and talented AAA player who looks like he can contribute in the majors in some way in the future as a quality utility backup (may not ever have enough power to be a starter). Kaeden Kent just got called up to AA, he’s very talented and that puts him one step closer to AAA and the bigs. Obviously I haven’t even mentioned the 4 young talented international shortstops we have (Gonzalez, Hernández, Level, and the other Hernández). And haven’t even mentioned any of the pitchers yet. There’s a lot to be excited about as we are going to get these young players coming up and debuting in each of the next three years and they all absolutely have the talent and opportunity to become part of something special in SF
