The SJ Giants turn the tables on the Storm after the blowout loss in LE on Sunday. 3 pitchers combine for a no-hitter led by Argenis Cayama who finishes the season strong on his 20'th birthday. Overall, the SJ Giants pitching was disappointing this season but we're seeing encouraging signs from this year's draft class. Ian Korn was the 10'th round pick(why do I get a mental picture of heavy metal rock group when I see his name?). Eric Nachtsheim was the Giants 6'th round pick. Scouting report on him is a big fastball.
Dr. B, there is a heavy metal “nu metal” band called Korn, if you weren’t familiar with them. Mason Miller of The Padres uses the beginning of their song “Blind” as his entrance music. The beginning of the song is just a catchy riff and lead singer Jonathan Davis yelling “Are you READY?”. It’s got to be one of the best closer entrances of all time I should think, as befits Mason Miller! Here are a couple YouTube clips of his entrance:

Where's Bo Davidson been of late? He hasn't been in the Sacramento lineup.
ReplyDeleteBo Davidson fouled a ball off his foot and suffered a contusion. He is expected back soon but the season is almost over so we'll see.
DeleteThat's how young Cayama is?! (& all 4 of the Dominican SS pipeline roster younger still!!) So-so ERA, but notable improvement in K/9 & WHIP and the strong finish (including 2 HRs over last >45 IP), has BB/9 down to acceptable 2.5, surely multiple years younger than level-average. Successful season!
