Logan Webb RHP pitched a Quality Start but the Giants lineup was completely shut down by Tyler Glasnow RHP who limited the Giants to one hit and one walk(Luis Arraez had both). There really isn't anything else to say about this game. Oh, Dalton Rushing C is trying hard to become the latest in a long line of Dodger villains with Logan Webb deciding to play the role of straight man for no other reason than why-the-heck not?
This was the 5'th time the Giants lineup was shut out on the season. The Giants have pitched 4 shutouts so it's not totally a one way street.
I am not seeing any reason to keep running Drew Gilbert out in the starting lineup. Not hitting this year. Did not hit last year. Will Brennan is not inspiring either. Free Victor Bericoto!

DeleteI have said my piece about Drew Gilbert a number of times but yesterday and the entire continues to show how challenged the lineup is, especially the OF..Just so little punch. But that die was cast in the off-season
DeleteThat said, what the series also showed was that the Giants MAY have the pitching, if healthy, to be in most games. And it seems like Webb is almost back. But, one injury to the rotation and yikes! If i was Buster I would be proactive in finding a SP in the next month before the injuries start (they hit all teams)--even if it's a triple AAA who shows consistency elsewhere

I didn't exactly like Webb hitting Rushing in the ribs. I small a bench clearing brawl in the next series. I don't want our starters risking suspension. I like playing with some energy but, it has it's limits.
ReplyDeleteGlad the team won 2 of 3 during the series. They were all fairly lower scoring affairs, and I saw a number of warning track outs that made me wonder if the Giants should consider bringing in the fences to encourage some offense. I'm willing to bet that the scoring for these two teams will increase by some amount during the May series at Dodger Stadium.
