Robbie Ray allowed two solo home runs and that was too much for the Giants flaccid lineup to overcome. Key Lines:
Willy Adames SS- 2 for 4, HR(3), R, RBI. BA= .273. Adames continues to swing a hot bat hitting .393 over his last 7 games. His solo home run accounted for the only Giants run of the game.
Luis Arraez 2B- 3 for 4. BA= .333. Luis Arraez continues to do Luis Arraez things such as bat for a high batting average. Problem is the 3 batters behind him in the lineup went a combined 0 for 10 with a walk and HBP so Arraez' efforts did not figure into the scoring.
Jung Hoo Lee RF- 2 for 4, 2B. BA= .207. Maybe Lee is coming out of his early season funk as he is batting .280 over his last 7 games.
Robbie Ray LHP- 5 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 4 BB, 6 K's. Typical Ray start which fell short of a Quality Start but should have been good enough for a W. The bullpen did their part with Caleb Kilian RHP(1.29), Keaton Winn RHP(3.68) and Ryan Walker RHP(4.50) pitching a scoreless inning each but the Giants lineup couldn't close the one run gap.
The Giants record fell to 6-11 and they remain mired in last place in the NL West. They are tied with a total of 3 other teams for the worst record in MLB.
Tyler Mahle RHP tries to be the Stopper tomorrow evening facing Rhett Lowder RHP.
It’s early but Jung Hoo’s defense is getting negative marks on the defensive metrics. A little disappointing.

Does Ray need another pitch? They seemed to be climbing all over his slider in this game. And what's up with Bailey? Maybe his glove hand is hurt. It seemed like he was swatting at flies half the time. How much longer will Buster and TV stick with their current mix of outfielders?
ReplyDeleteI agree, Bailey's swings look terrible.
DeleteI think Brennan may be up on the next homestand and Bailey is a platoon player at this point and if he is hurt, Jesus Rodriguez is a good offensive catcher.
DeleteChapman (0-4) had a runner on 1B every time he came to bat, although, in the 1st inning, Adames was caught stealing on the 2nd pitch to Chapman.
ReplyDeleteRamos (0-4) was almost as futile: he had runner on in his first 3 ABs, twice the runner was on 2nd.
Devers' trends are becoming concerning. He at least needs a rest day but, also I'd be preparing Eldridge and Brennan for call ups on the next homestand. I'm not sold on Oliva at this point
ReplyDeleteAs usual, way too many bad things about the lineup outside of ARRAEZ (always) and ADAMES (sometimes)..The outfield is atrocious at worst, punch and judy at best. All on Buster and GMZM..I think VITELLO is way overmatched and not the person to be managing a MLB team of veterans but this isn't his fault. Please bring up Brennan before the rabid puppy Gilbert.

The Giants placed centerfielder Harrison Bader and utility outfielder Jared Oliva on the 10-day injured list and recalled outfielders Will Brennan and Drew Gilbert.
ReplyDeleteWhoa!
ReplyDeleteIs this a RESET?
The C and ⅔ of the OF tonight didn't start the 2026 season on the field.
Batting 7-9:
7 D. Susac C
8 W. Brennan LF
9 D. Gilbert CF
Plus 3 more didn't start the 2025 season with SF, including the pitcher.
And the RFer is last year's CFer, the 3B is the DH and his on-field replacement was on the bench.
And then there's the manager and most of his staff...
A reset usually involves trying to get better...what the Giants are bringing in is mind numbingly bad...Buster is as overmatched as Vitello
