Interesting article on upcoming draft according to Keith Law the Giants are very high on #2 rated prospect SS Grady Emerson, a HS Shortstop from Texas. Their fallback options are Georgia tech catcher Vaughn Lackey, and UCSB pitcher Jackson Flora with a high 90s fastball. Draft fast approaching. I wonder if Tennessee has draft prospects the Giants are looking at. Another name to keep an eye on is Jackson Lombard, HS SS and brother of Yankees prospect George Lombard.
ReplyDeleteI would be thrilled with Emerson or Flora. Less high on Lombard, although he has more current and probably more projectable power than Emerson. I like Lackey but after our experience with Joey Bart, I am a bit leary of taking a college catcher from GA Tech that high.
DeleteLol I was thinking the same thing on Lackey
DeleteI like OF Drew Burress at pick 4. The Giants have already run the experiment on hitters with height between 5'8 and 5'10 (Johnny Level) and Burress has awesome loud and consistent contact at the plate and doesn't strike out either.
DeleteNot sure I see a draft where Grady makes it that far but would be a steal there - though not a fit for organizational needs.
Flora also would be a great pickup as the top arm in the draft.
Sorry the name of the draft prospect is Jacob Lombard and brother of Yankees prospect George Lombard, not Jackson..
