A+  San Jose Giants outlasted the Visalia Rawhide 2-1 in 11 innings:

Bryce Johnson CF- 2 for 5, 2 SB(10).  BA= .261.
Logan Webb RHP- 4 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K's.  ERA= 1.59.
Carlos Sano RHP- 4 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 5 K's.  ERA= 7.50.
Rodolfo Martinez RHP- 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K.  ERA= 4.03.
Orleny Quiroz LHP- 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 0 K.  ERA= 0.00.

Logan Webb has gone 4 IP his last 2 starts.  Interesting how the Giants are using him coming off TJ surgery. I'm guessing his innings target for the season is 90-100 increasing to 130 in 2019 and 150 in 2020.  He's still just 21 yo so no reason to rush him.  Carlos Sano has a strong appearance after getting roughed up in his SJ debut.  He's 25 yo but I cannot find any record of prior experience in affiliated ball.   His size and initial pro performances are intriguing.

Covechatter makes a compelling case for the Giants to draft a college hitter with their #2 overall pick in the upcoming draft.  Check it out.  It's linked to the left.  Gotta say I've kind of got my heart set on Joey Bart.  I might even be disappointed if the Tigers grab him and the Giants end up with Casey Mize!

  1. I agree! I was envious of the Tigers getting Mize (and the first pick) but then the buzz started about Bart going first and I suddenly changed my tune! Funny how that works. Taking a pitcher at 1 may be fraught with peril but then you look at Cole, Strasberg, and Price in recent years. But for some reason, I am dubious of Mize.

  2. Webb is at the 110 innings target this season and 150 next.

  3. I would be happy with either Bart or Mize. If they were to cut an underslot deal with Cole Winn, that would throw me for a loop!

  4. According to Ritzo, Sandro Cabrera is doing well at SJ since he moved to the rotation.

"LHP Sandro Cabrera works seven strong innings tonight to match the longest start of his career. Allowed two runs on seven hits. Walked four & struck out four. Cabrera in three starts since moving into the rotation: 18 2/3 IP, 3 ER, 15 SO (1.45 ERA)."
