  1. Of CJ Hinojosa, Ryan Howard, Manuel Geraldo, or anyone else (Brandon Van Horn? Nander De Sedas?) do any have major league SS potential for the Giants?
    Who has the highest ceiling?
Who is the closest to the majors?
    How far away is Geraldo?
Does Van Horn's first name help him any?

Different topic -- is it possible that Luigi Rodriguez has actually come "of age"? Not .400+ but actually be able to hit well enough to be a REAL prospect? Is 118 ABs just too SSS to mean anything? He's #2 in batting to Vladimir Guerrero Jr (who has reached base in 36 consecutive games and is batting .433 overall, in 46 games: .433/.481/.713 @ 19 yo) in the Eastern League -- no mean feat!

    1. when is last time a Minor Leaguer has received as much press as Little Vlad? When is last time the son of a major leaguer has been this good? Bellinger / Griffey, Jr come to mind to answer second question

  3. Sorry DrB. I quit paying the subscription fee, and it looks like they finally kicked me off the old domain page. Thanks to Bryce for checking in with me this morning. I don't expect you to add it back to your links or anything like that, as I haven't posted there in almost a year... but just thought you would like to know!

  4. Richmond is 10th in BA in the 12-team Eastern League and a couple games over .500 because their pitching is close to the better staffs in the league.
With Miguel Gomez back to join Luigi Rodriguez and Ryan Howard the Squirrels will have a little more punch but with 6 players playing regularly but under the Mendoza line they're not going to take on the top teams.
Do players like these (name position games BA)
    Jerry Sands 1B 43 .197
    Matt Lipka RF 40 .196
    Aramis Garcia C 33 .195
    Dillon Dobson 3B 34 .194
    Ronnie Jebavy CF 47 .186
who are playing the bulk of Richmond's games reflect the nature of the Eastern League or is it indicative of the Giant weakness in their system?

    1. Some of both. The EL is generally a pitcher-friendly league and Richmond if one of the more pitcher friendly ballparks in the league, but it's not a great lineup either. Makes what Ryan Howard is doing there all the more impressive.
