It was a nice night at Recreation Park in Visalia last night, Thirsty Thursday, which brings out a larger crowd. It was a good ball game until the 9th inning, when Tyler Mizenko brought a gas can to close out the game and gave up 4 runs. Chris Stratton looked only okay. He had a good first inning with 2 strikeouts but then gave up 3 runs in the 2nd before settling down again. One of my friends commented that he didn't have any zip on his fastball. Chuckie Jones had a nice 3-run homerun, but also looked bad striking out on an off speed pitch way off the plate. Brian Ragira's homerun was a no doubter to left center. One wonders why Shawn Payne is still on this team, he just turned 25 years old and is in his second stint in this league. The one giant pitcher that appeared to have zip on his fastball was Bryce Bandilla. APGiantsfan
ReplyDeleteAdrianza and Scutaro DL'd. Noonan and Jose DePaula DFA'd. Uggla and Abreu called up.
ReplyDeleteWishing the best for Uggla and Abreu. If it works out, we can concentrate on getting help elsewhere...a starter? a reliever? a leadoff hitter?
DeleteThough they are tributing the Richmond Braves this weekend, the Richmond Flying Squirrels are pure Giants of the WS days...Great pitching, both Starters and Relief, and some pure baseball players in the likes of DUFFY and THOMLINSOM offsetting weak offense from the OF/corners from players like Oropressa, Villalona (though PARKER surprises sometimes)and others..... STRICKLAND and OKERT are pure nasty (much better than Hall) but gotta think other teams will want them in trades...
ReplyDeleteMan is that 2B position in SF a Mongolian clusterfudge...But I only make a real deal there if CF isn't being upgraded (latest news seems quasi optimistic on Pagan but I don't trust it)

I think Uggla is done. I hope I'm wrong. I do wish he wasn't wearing 22.
