AAA Fresno Grizzlies defeated the Salt Lake City Bees 6-4:
Nick Noonan(2B)- 2 for 3, 2 2B, BB, SF. BA= .524.
Chris Dominguez(3B)- 2 for 4. BA= .287.
Ydwin Villegas(SS)- 3 for 4. BA= .455.
Chris Heston(RHP)- 6.2 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 2 BB, 5 K's. ERA= 5.31.
AA Richmond Flying Squirrels blanked the Erie Seawolves 2-1:

Cody Hall(RHP)- 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K's, Save(1). ERA= 0.00.
Susac is having a solid season. Cody Hall gets the callup. Watch out for him. He's a hard thrower and racks up the K's. His final line for San Jose: 2-0, 1.34, 33.2 IP, 7 BB, 48 K's.
High A San Jose Giants beat the Stockton Ports 5-3:
Skyler Stromsmoe(CF)- 2 for 3, BB. BA= .262.

Ty Blach(LHP)- 5 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 0 BB, 3 K's. ERA= 2.72.
Stromsmoe and Villalona get the promos after the game. Gotta wonder if Ricky is hurt or getting demoted. Angel V is hitting just .171 over his last 10 games and .215 for the month of May.
Low A Augusta Greenjackets out hit the Asheville Tourists 9-7:
Matt Duffy(SS)- 3 for 5, 2B, HR(4). BA= .311.

Not a great start from Stratton. Houck has 2 hits each in his last 3 games.

Ethan Miller(RHP)- 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K. ERA= 10.13.
Derek Law(RHP)- 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K's. ERA= 3.86.
I like everything about Alvarado except his age.
DSL Giants edged the Twins 2-1:
Gustavo Cabrera(CF, 17 yo)- 1 for 3. BA= .200.
Carlos Cartagena(RF, 19 yo)- 1 for 2, HR(3), BB. BA= .156.

Oropesa is indeed demoted, its in the SJ summary: http://www.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20130701&content_id=52356730&fext=.jsp&vkey=news_t476&sid=t476
ReplyDeleteCody Hall moving quick. I called this one!
Mac Williamson seems to be hitting his stride now. Just cleared the 800 line in OPS.
Nick Noonan wants back on the 25. Bad.
ALL 7 TEAMS WON! PLUS THE GIGANTES!
Osich is promoted too according to the same article.
DeleteThis same article also says that AUSTIN FLEET will be starting for SJ after like 7 out of 8 real solid appearnces in AAA Fresno....I don't get it..

I would like someone to ask Baggs in one of his chats what his take on Stratton's season is so far since he has connections in the org. Who knows, maybe he'll follow a similar development path like Kickham and pitch in AA next year. Nice to see the hard throwing relievers Osich + Hall moved up to AA. Lets see what Angel V can do in AA.

It's better to be aggressive and not settle for just enough.
DeleteIf it's their job to find the next Wheeler, it maybe a good time to get an objective update on that front.
A. who is the likeliest candidate.
B. What is the backup plan in case he is not or is delayed.
c. If delayed, for how long? (May as well consider the difference between Wheeler's MLB debut - whenever that is - vs. our candidate. I mean, if the next Wheeler is 10 years in the future, that doesn't really help much in the mean time...So, maybe the part I (maybe others as well) missed was when, not if, we would find the next Wheeler.
By the way, how is Wheeler doing? I haven't followed him much. Is he not doing well or is he doing pretty good?
Kyle Crick is clearly the Next Wheeler. If he keeps progressing at his current rate, we could see him in SF as early as late 2014.
DeleteAs for Wheels himself, he has now pitched 3 MLB games. First one went well with 6 shutout innings. The next two, not so much allowing 9 ER in 10 IP. Overall line for the 3 games is 1-1, 5.06, 16 IP, 10 BB, 13 K's.
Ricky O and Angel V swap? Curious what makes Sabes feel Villalona is ready for Eastern League pitching.

If I had to guess, I'd say this is more of a move to get Ricky back on track than to promote Angel V, but we'll see how it all works out.
