Down on the Farm: 5/17/2013

AAA  Fresno Grizzlies defeated the New Orleans Zephyrs 6-1:

Kensuke Tanaka(2B)- 1 for 3, 3B, 2 BB.  BA= .338.
Roger Kieschnick(LF)- 2 for 3, 2B, 3B, BB.  BA= .308.
Juan Perez(SS)- 2 for 3, 2B, HR(7), BB, SB(9), 2 E. BA= .301.
Shane Loux(RHP)- 6 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 4 K's, GO/AO= 12/1.  ERA= 3.68.

Second start in  row at SS for JCP, but there's the 2 E's.  Wasn't he a SS coming out of JC ball when he was drafted?

AA  Altoona Curve edged the Richmond Flying Squirrels 2-1:

Jarrett Parker(RF)- 3 for 4, 2B, Assist(home).  BA= .258.
Craig Westcott(RHP)- 7.1 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 5 K's.  ERA= 3.29.

Parker is slashing .342/.405/.685 over his last 10 games and .327/.383/.655 for the month of May.

High A  San Jose Giants beat the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes 5-3:

Brock Bond(2B)- 1 for 4.  BA= .250.
Ryan Cavan(3B)- 1 for 4, HR(2).  BA= .331.
Angel Villalona(1B)- 1 for 3, HR(8), BB.  BA= .212.
Kelvin Marte(LHP)- 6 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 4 K's.  ERA= 2.84.
Bryce Bandilla(LHP)- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K's, Save(1).  ERA= 3.81.

Brock Bond makes his 2013 debut.  Angel V continues to crush the ball when he makes contact.  I don't know if ptichers are respecting his power more or if he is developing a semblance of plate discipline but he's even drawing a walk here and there.  Still K's a ton, though.  Gonna try to get to the game tonight to see Clayton Blackburn pitch.

Low A  Augusta Greenjackets smothered the Savannah Sand Gnats 11-0:

Matt Duffy(SS)- 2 for 4, 2B, HBP.  BA= .299.
Mitch Delfino(DH)- 2 for 3, HR(3), BB.  BA= .250.
Trevor Brown(2B)- 2 for 4, 2B.  BA= .220.
Ben Turner(C)- 3 for 4, 3 2B.  BA= .234.
Chuckie Jones(RF)- 1 for 3, 2B, BB.  BA= .183.
Joe Biagini(RHP)- 7 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 4.94.
Ian Gardeck(RHP)- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K.  ERA= 2.41.
Stephen Johnson(RHP)- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K.  ERA= 4.74.

  1. Bandilla threw harder than Hall - the latter was 91-93 while Bryce was 95 to 97.

Don't know the story behind his close-to-4 ERA, but developing a little better constancy, with 84 MPH offspeed stuff, he'll complement Hembree nicely.

    1. The game I saw, Bandilla threw hard, and got K's, but everything the opposing batters made contact with went a long way.
