AAA Fresno Grizzlies topped the Memphis Redbirds 6-5:

Cole Gillespie(LF)- 3 for 4, BB. BA= .299.
Chris Dominguez(3B)- 1 for 4, HR(4). BA= .261.
Chris Heston(RHP)- 5 IP, 10 H, 5 R, 0 BB, 4 K's, 2 HBP, GO/AO= 7/1. ERA= 6.18.
Jake Dunning(RHP)- 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K's. ERA= 1.93.
Dunning continues to pitch remarkably well for this league, or any league. Heston's peripherals looked good in this one as they do for the season so far. He has 42 K against just 15 BB in 43.2 IP with a GO/AO= 1.96.
AA Game 1 Richmond Flying Squirrels blanked the Altoona Curve 5-0:
Jarrett Parker(RF)- 1 for 3, HR(4). BA= .245.
Ryan Lollis(CF)- 1 for 3, 1 HR(2). BA= .237.
Craig Wescott(RHP)- 6 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 7 K's. ERA= 2.74.
Parker's OPS of .771 looks much better than his BA. He is actually putting up very similar numbers in AA as he did in the Cal League, which may not be great, but they haven't cratered as many predicted.
AA Game 2 Altoona Curve defeated the Richmond Flying Squirrels 5-3:
Joe Panik(2B)- 1 for 3, BB. BA= .305.
Jarrett Parker(RF)- 0 for 2, 2 BB. BA= .241.
Ehire Adrianza(SS)- 2 for 2, 2B, Sac. BA= .236.
High A San Jose Giants tamed the High Desert Mavericks 5-2:
Shawn Payne(DH)- 2 for 4, SB(13). BA= .265.
Devin Harris(LF)- 2 for 4, 2 2B. BA= .275.
Austin Fleet(RHP)- 5 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 3 K's. ERA= 2.81.
Jose Casilla(RHP)- 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K's. ERA= 0.00.
Hunter Strickland(RHP)- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K's, Save(6). ERA= 1.13.

Low A Greenville Drive edged the Augusta Greenjackets 6-5:
Matt Duffy(SS)- 3 for 5, 2 HR(3). BA= .296.
Shane Houck(1B)- 0 for 1, 3 BB. BA= .342.
Duffy flexes his muscles. Houck seems to have a very good sense of the strike zone. He has 15 BB and 15 K's in 91 PA's, with an OBP of .457.

ReplyDeleteHouck's last 10 games are even more impressive: 13 walks vs. 5 strikeouts for a tidy .512 OBP. I'd like to see a bit more power from the Kutztown Krusher, but a good batting eye is an excellent place to start.
ReplyDeleteJudging by their W-L records, both Altoona and Greenville are mediocre teams, so I guess we can't get too excited about Richmond and Augusta's recent results. Still, winning is always nice.
And they're letting the Kutztown Kid play a little third mid-way through games I've noticed...
