Angel Pagan- 2 for 5. BA= .300.
Pablo Sandoval- 2 for 4, HR(1). BA= .278.
Hunter Pence- 1 for 3, HR(2), BB, SB(1). BA= .294.
Ryan Vogelsong- 5.1 IP, 9 H, 5 R, 2 BB, 6 K's. ERA= 8.44. Not sure about the rest of his game, but the 5'th inning log reads like a textbook of what can happen when the BABIP odds get out of norm. 3 Straight ground ball singles!
George Kontos- 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K. ERA= 7.36. It will take awhile to whittle the ERA down, but that's his second good outing which is good. Giants need this kid to do well.
The Loss dropped the Giants record to 3-2 and a game behind the divison leading D'Backs and Rockies. The Dodgers topped the Pirates 1-0 behind Clayton Kershaw to pull even with the Giants while the Pathetic Padres lost to the Rockies and dropped 3 games off the pace at 1-4.
Matt Cain takes the mound on Ring Day facing Adam Wainwright tomorrow afternoon.
vogey only gave up singles. just some came at the wrong time...not worried at all
ReplyDeletehe needs a couple of tweeks and to be in a situation where he can focus. all the pomp of this homestand makes that a bit difficult
looks like the bucs have a good rotation and that drrrty has finally fixed the prob between his ears
boy, that high paid offense of the bums doesnt look all that scary in the early going
tomorrow is ring day...win or lose, will be one memorable afternoon

He have up 3 runs in 5 innings. Sure, not a blowup, but FAR from a promising showing. 4/1 K/BB is good for him, though, I will grant.
The baseball gods were not with the Giants this game. Belt didn't come up with long hop from Crawford's throw, Panda didn't come up with that groundball in the hole that Crawford could have made the play on in that 3 run 5th inning. The Giants hit several line drives into outs. Arias line drive DP really hurt. Pence and Panda continue to look good at the plate. Kontos has good stuff, he should be a key member of the bullpen. I agree, Vogey will bounce back.
DeleteFormer Giant, Kevin Frandson came up with a 3 run walk off double for the Phils against the Royals in the MLB network game. Nice to see the kid do well.
