Down on the Farm: 5/7/2013

Gary Brown(CF)- 1 for 4, 2B, Assist(home).  BA= .206.

Shane Loux(RHP)- 6 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 3 BB, 3 K's.  ERA= 4.21.

AA  Richmond Flying Squirrels vs Bowie Baysox rained out.

High A  San Jose Giants clobbered the Bakersfield Blaze 10-3:

Ryan Cavan(2B)- 2 for 4, BB.  BA= .363.
Mac Williamson(RF)- 1 for 5, HR(4).  BA= .250.
Angel Villalona(1B)- 1 for 2, 2B.  BA= .222.
Jeff Arnold(C)- 2 for 3, 2 HR(5), 2 BB,  BA= .276.
Myles Schroder(3B)- 4 for 5, 2B.  BA= .304.
Bobby Haney(SS)- 2 for 4, HR(1).  BA= .235.
Chris Lofton(CF)- 0 for 2, Sac, 2 BB, SB(6).  BA= .247.
Edwin Escobar(LHP)- 1.2 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 1 BB, 1 K.  ERA= 3.04.
Kelvin Marte(LHP)- 2.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K.  ERA= 2.00.
Jeff Soptic(RHP)- 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K's.  ERA= 6.20.
Josh Osich(LHP)- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K's.  ERA= 1.13.

Escobar came out after throwing 33 pitches in the 2'nd inning.  No word on why Angel V left the game early.  I think I have mentioned that I really like Schroder and think he is a legitimate sleeper prospect.  I would say the same about Jeff Arnold.  Good to see Osich strike out the side and good to see Soptic have a dominant 2 innings with no BB's.

Low A  Asheville Tourists walked all over the Augusta Greenjackets 9-3:

Jesus Galindo(CF)- 1 for 3, 2 BB.  BA= .263.
Shayne Houck(1B-3B)- 1 for 2, 2B, 2 BB.  BA= .353.
Justin Schumer(RHP)- 0.2 IP, 4 H, 7 R, 3 BB, 1 K.  ERA= 16.20.
Mason McVay(LHP)- 3 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 5 K's.  ERA= 3.60.
Brandon Farley(RHP)- 3.1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K.  ERA= 2.88.
Tyler Mizenko(RHP)- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K.  ERA= 0.00.

Nice to see McVay stretch it out.  He's a guy who might be converted to starter at some point.  He has 23 K's against 5 BB's in 20 IP on the season so far.  Mizenko now has pitched 14.1 scoreless innings over 13 appearances on the season.  He has 16 K's against 8 BB's with a GO/AO= 3.00.

  1. Ritzo tweeted its just pitch limits with Escobar.

My man Shayne Houck gets his first 2B AND gets a shot to play 3B. Nice.

Good to see Mac go deep. He might have a bit of a target on his back from opposing teams. He's hitting 342/375/553 with 2 2B and 2 HR in the past 10 games. 2BB and 8K in 38 ABs. Hope this is a start of a breakout and he's 100% healthy.
