Down on the Farm: 5/14/2013

AAA  Memphis Redbirds edged the Fresno Grizzlies 4-3:

Cole Gillespie(LF)- 1 for 4, HR(3).  BA= .282.
Juan Perez(RF)- 3 for 4.  BA= .284.
Chris Dominguez(3B)- 1 for 2, BB, SF.  BA= .286.
Gary Brown(CF)- 0 for 4, BB, PO/CS(5).  BA= .208.
Boof Bonser(RHP)- 6 IP, 9 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 4 K's.  ERA= 5.31.

He'll have to keep it going longer to prove it, but Chris Dominguez seems to have discovered something and is not the all-or-nothing hitter we have seen in the past.  Gotta wonder if there is something physically wrong with Brown or some off-the-field issue that's eating him.  How does a guy just regress like this?  The PO/CS, in particular, suggests that there is something lacking in the mental aspects of the game for him.

AA  Harrisburg Senators blasted the Richmond Flying Squirrels 8-1:

Jarrett Parker(RF)- 1 for 3, HR(5), BB.  BA= .244.
Joe Panik(2B)- 2 for 4. BA= .310.
Scott Shuman(RHP)- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K's.  ERA= 13.50.
Jose Valdez(RHP)- 2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 5 K's.  ERA= 4.29.

Parker's OPS is nearing .800.  His slash line for his last 10 games:  .316/.381/.737.  One of Shuman's K's reached base on a WP.

High A  San Jose Giants were idle.

Low A  Augusta Greenjackets defeated the Rome Braves 6-3:

Jesus Galindo(CF)- 1 for 2, BB, SF, SB(24).  BA= .289.
Mitch Delfino(3B)- 2 for 3.  BA= .247.
Justin Schumer(RHP)- 5 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 0 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 11.48.
Derek Law(RHP)- 2.1 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 3 K's.  ERA= 2.92.
Tyler Mizenko(RHP)- 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 0 K, Save(11).  ERA= 0.00.

  1. Dominguez is at 323/405/710 for the past 10 games. 4 bombs, 5 walks and 6 Ks. He's teased like this before though. But if it is the start of figuring something out... That's why the Gints stick with players.

    1. Not sure I can put a finger on it, but for some reason this feels different with Chris D than his previous teases.
