Hot Tip: Keith Olbermann Previews the NL West

Hey team!  Gotta check out Keith Olbermann's 2013 Previews/NL West:  How To Lose A Pennant.  It's linked over on the left.

Oh man!  He just flames the Dodgers!  Yep, takes a blowtorch and turns it up to full blast.  He is harsh, harsh, harsh on the D'Backs, Rockies and Padres too.  He saves the best for last and you are going to have to read what he says about the Giants.  Uh huh!  Brian Sabean too.  Absolutely must reading!

  1. ko hates the giants and giants fans, so im pretty surprised by his comments.

he is wrong about dee gordon. the bums made a huge mistake bringing the kid up last season. he needs to see more pitches, needs to work on stealing and running the bases, needs to work on his defensive skills. bringing him up last season, set him back a good year in development...and he def wasnt ready after the past st. being fast is not enough. the bums are built to win now...and they will soon discover that model doesnt work.

overall, a pretty good analysis of the west

    1. I agree with you on the Gordon thing. You can't steal first base! The Dodgers and Gordon found that out the hard way last year.

  2. A fun read for Giants fans here, plus a really fun comments section with Dodgers fans eating the team alive...

Other than that, I now think Keith Olbermann is alright. Not a ton of analysis of the squad, but I guess he only likes doing that to teams he thinks will be garbage.. So, compliment, I guess?

    1. Hey, anybody who takes a blowtorch to the Dodgers like that is alright in my book.

  3. doc,

i would like to differ on your take on the shawons. were it just any coach and any kid on any other team, i would agree. but sr made his bones on the cubs, finished with the giants, gave a heartbreaking interview post 02 lcs (my son asked me, "daddy, why dont you play anymore?" and i told him, "shawon, sometimes you have to be a good teammate" said with tears streaming down his face) and we all know what he did in the 02 ws. sr goes on to be a beloved and very good coach in the org, and jr goes on to grow up around the org and gets covered by at least one beat while in hs. gets drafted by pops og team, and it led to "the game".

jr was facing guys he has seen pitch, up close and personal...guys he considers friends and visa versa (the post game tweets are hilarious)

so i think the play by play was indeed called for

sr doesnt get emotional that often and it was pretty amazing to see him choke up right from the moment they exchanged the lineup

its why i love this game...you wont see that in any other pro sport

    1. Yup. And Big League Futures has a revamp as well.

Larry Baer's been busy. Nice deals for Bochy and Sabean. 20 years by the end of that deal! Mano, that is a long time. Good times.
