  1. Another underwhelming trade deadline by FZ. If you don’t feel like you can win why not trade some pieces as opposed to doing absolutely nothing? I get the feeling that other GM’s don’t respect him and would prefer not to deal with him. Seattle being the obvious exception and all they do is trade us their crap for ours! How as a fan of this team would you suggest reacting to what amounts to more of the same for the 5th year in a row from a guy who is referred to frequently as the smartest guy in baseball yet he hasn’t won a thing and honestly seems years away from winning in the playoffs if he ever gets back?

    1. Much as I made fun of the Pollack trade, I think he is a potential under-the-radar deadline steal. As I mentioned Sunday, I didn't see a lot of obvious upgrades available on the trade market so I am not that surprised FZ stood pat. Beyond that, this season has already transformed the longterm outlook of the organization with the establishment of Patrick Bailey as Buster Posey's very worthy successor as well as the emergence of several other rookies who look to be long term pieces. What's the old song? The future's so bright I gotta wear shades!

    2. I'm in the wait and see mode on Pollack. I remember him as a tough out when he played for the d backs and Bums. He hit 21 hrs and had a 892 ops as recently as the 2021 season. He's been thru pennant races. FZ was brought in to build a sustainable winning team by building up the farm system. While I had my doubts, with the development of several rookies breaking in the team, the long term outlook is looking very good. I loved seeing Luciano at SS, Schmidt 2nd base, Matos CF, Bailey -catcher!. This is a more important development then the trades FZ makes and doesn't make .

    3. I'm pretty sure that some of the folks complaining about lack of action at the trade deadline are the same folks who are still grinding their teeth over trading Zach Wheeler for Carlos Beltran. Nevermind they won two World Series in the 3 years after that trade.

  2. So the Giants did nothing (suggesting that Pollock doesn't amount to much):
Nothing to help the MLB team, and
Nothing to hurt the System we are ALL counting on!
    Bravo! On to 2024!

  3. Sending Luciano down is extremely disappointing. No moves? No problem but why r we rolling out Diaz and his perfect BA?
