Perhaps all those bullpen games finally caught up with the Giants because one game after the offense let them down in a 1-0 loss, the pitching got crushed in a blowout loss to a relatively weak Nationals team.
The big bright spot was Joey Bart C who rapped out 3 hits including his 3'rd HR, a performance he and the Giants desperately needed.
Jason Krizan LF played his first MLB game at age 32 with his family looking on while wiping away tears of joy.
Jason Vosler 3B hit a 2-run HR in the second inning to temporarily make it a close game.
Not much else to say about this stinker of a game. The broadcast was exclusively on Apple TV+ with their own broadcast team. With due deference to Hunter Pence, the broadcast was terrible from the camera work to the play-by-play to the commentary.

Brandon Belt 1B tested positive for COVID 19 joining YtY, Zack Littell RHP, Dominic Leone RHP and Steven Duggar(already on the 60-day IL). In addition a member of the Giants clubhouse personnel reportedly tested positive. In response, the Giants announced the closing of the clubhouse to media and non-essential to personnel.
To help cover the deficit, the Giants added Jason Krizan UT, Mauricio Llovera RHP and Ka'ai Tom OF from Sacramento while optioning Jakob Junis RHP and releasing Darien Nunez LHP into The Churn.
The concern in all of this is the probability that the positive COVID tests so far are just the tip of a growing iceberg of exposure that could explode in the next few days. Stay tuned.
Since all players who have tested positive are vaccinated and boosted and seem to have mild to no symptoms, it might be time for MLB to rethink their COVID protocol for players and treat it more like a seasonal flu outbreak. It appears the current protocol is not going to prevent unvaccinated players and personnel from exposure anyway. Just my opinion for what it's worth.
