Preseason Update: Puig Out

Some Giants fans are disappointed while others are celebrating that we won't see Yasiel Puig in a Giants uniform this season.  He signed with the Braves yesterday.  They probably had room after Nick Markakis opted out of the season.  I am actually a Yasiel Puig fan.  Although some of his behavior is outrageous, he brings excitement to the game and does things that make people pay attention to the game and talk baseball.  While he probably would have been an upgrade of at least one position for the Giants for this year, he would have gotten in the way of what I believe the Giants need to accomplish this season which is evaluate some young players whose careers are nearing a crossroads.  So, I am happy Yasiel found a place to play and I am happy he's not going to be clouding the picture for the Giants future.

Johnny Cueto was renamed the Giants SP for Opening Day.  No surprise there.

Intrasquad action:

Alex Dickerson OF homered over the RF wall off Shaun Anderson.

Tyler Heineman C stole 3B for the second time in a week.

Steven Duggar hit a triple up....Triples Alley!

Joey Bart seems to be going to RF almost exclusively.  That can come back to bite if pitchers figure out you can't pull the inside pitch.  Not saying Bart can't but it's something to watch.

On the injury front, Brandon Belt is out of his walking boot.  Tony Watson threw a live BP session.

Giants added Jose Siri, signed as a minor league FA, to the 60 man player pool.  He is another toolsy OF with some upside who hasn't found traction on his career yet.
