Another frustrating thing about their treatment of Cox is, when he was up here, earlier this season, he actually produced. .269 BA, 3 Xbh, 4 steals all in limited action. He should be up here. The only thing he didn't do was he struck out 15 times and walked none. Give him the next two months to show what he can do.
ReplyDeleteCox clearly wasnt used to the speed of the MLB when he was called up as evidence by his high strike outs, but they were giving him like one at bat per week so they clearly never let him try to get used to big league pitching. There’s a lot to say about Cox, I’ve never seen someone do what he is doing in the minors and maybe early 2000’s was the only time I saw some guys like Ichiro and Bonds flirting with .400. Cox is at .420 through 200 at bats. That’s insane and absolutely worth talking a lot
ReplyDeleteReggie Crawford did an interview with the San Jose Mercury news. He said he intends to pitch with the giants again next spring and that he plans on being a two-way player. He also said he’s confident he can still hit triple digits. We’ll see. Even if he does good he’s always going to have the injury prone label but it’s hard not to dream on him being our closer. 6’5 lefty throwing triple digits who has dominated when he has played
ReplyDeleteI think that the ship has officially sailed on Reggie Crawford. I think Wendell Fairley has a better chance of ever playing for the Giants than Reggie Crawford. If he can make it here, great. But I'm not betting on it.
DeleteAs "prospects" or young players, Giants have Furman (not playing), Basabe (lighting in a bottle), Eddys Leonard (playing semi-regularly), Mc Cray (last chance ?), Gilbert (had full season), and the two catchers. I want the prospects to play regularly, so I understand not promoting to sit on the bench. But Giants have ABs available, and they will have ot make decisions in the off-season for teh 40-man.
ReplyDeleteSeeing the murdered row of McCray, Kennedy, and Koss saddens me immensely. None belong on this team. Each is taking a spot that could be used by somebody better. None has done much of anything for the Giants.
DeleteHeard Keith Law give the Giants high marks on their trade deadline. He liked the Giants taking a chance on Marcelo Mayer only giving up a lefty reliever Miller. He also said the Giants have become a good development organization ever since ZM became General manager since he gave his player development people like Kyle Haines more freedom to work with players on mechanical changes to make them better.. very encouraging and hope to see the results come up to the major league team soon.
ReplyDeleteFree Jonah Cox! I have Jonah Cox's walk rate in the minors at 8% this year, 8% in 2025, and 11% in 2024. His walk rate his last year at Oral Roberts was 10%. (all numbers rounded). All solid walk rates, so it looks to me like he has a good batting eye. I stopped following the Giants' games, but with only two months to hear the great Mike Krukow and the possibility of seeing a young prospect up, I am ready to re-engage.
