The Giants bats fell silent and the Angels pushed across two runs in the 9'th inning. Key Lines:
Robbie Ray LHP- 4 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 4 BB, 4 K's. ERA= 1.86. A bit wild but Ray was helped by a couple of double plays and a pick-off.
Caleb Killian RHP(1.69), Wilkin Ramos RHP(11.81), Juan Sanchez LHP(0.00) and Nick Zwack LHP(4.50) pitched a scoreless inning each.
The Giants managed just 3 hits in the game with Osleivis Basabe 2B/SS getting the only XBH.
Giants will send their road squad to face the Guardians with Carson Seymour RHP getting the start.
Slusser reported that they held an intense 27-out simulated game before the exhibition, playing out lots of defensive scenarios. Perhaps that partially explains the scoring.
ReplyDeletethe team leads the cactus league and then on a day when Devers, Adames, Chapman, Bailey and Schmitt start, the black and orange get shutout... -es
ReplyDeleteDo Spring Training results translate to anything in the regular season?
ReplyDeleteThe Giants are out-hitting and out-pitching their opponents while playing a long list of hitters and pitchers, most of whom won't be present for Opening Day in 2 weeks.
Does the mix who will play match up with winning, or will the Giants revert to the .500 team that we've watched for 4 non-satisfying years?
The number one factor I look at in spring training is how the team pitching shapes up. Beyond that there is little to no translation to regular season.
