A 2-run home run by Jerar Encarnacion was the biggest of 14 hits by the lineup and Tyler Mahle pitched three shutout innings in another Giants spring win.  Key Lines:

Jerar Encarnacion RF- 1 for 3, HR(1), R, 2 RBI.  BA= .294.

Parks Harber 3B- 2 for 3, 2B.  BA= .320.  More hitting from Harber.

Giants grounded into 4 double plays.

Tyler Mahle RHP- 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 3 BB, K, 6/0 GO/AO.  ERA= 0.00.  Mahle's big challenge is staying healthy.

Ryan Walker RHP- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K.  ERA= 0.00.  Walker has 6 K's, 0 BB in 4 IP so far.

Spencer Bivens RHP- 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K's, 3/1 GO/AO.  ERA= 1.35.  Bivens looks like he added some good weight and has been strong so far this spring.

Michael Fulmer RHP- 2 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 3 K's, 2/0 GO/AO.  ERA= 2.25.  Fulmer gives up a homer to the second batter he faced, then settled down.

  1. Oh wouldn't it be nice if these numbers were legitimate representations of what these players will do in the season. And why aren't Adames and Devers playing? WBC? Will they be ready for opening day?

  2. We (the USA) dodged a bullet managing to advance to the 2nd round in the WBA BUT Mark DeRosa is in a heap of trouble...

  3. The Nationals added Zack Littell on a one-year deal reportedly $7MM with another $2.5MM available to him via innings-based incentives.
Littell is pretty much in line with the Giants' SP acquisitions of Houser and Mahle.

    1. Maybe they are waiting for Lucas Giolito to come to them?

    2. I hope not. Not a big Giolito fan.

  5. Fangraphs projects the following ERAs:
    Tyler Mahle-4.05
    Adrian Hauser- 4.23
    Zack Little- 4.62.
Given that it took Littel almost all of spring to get a deal done, it seems that the market was a bit soft on him. Having said that, projections are projections, let's see what happens.

  6. Isn't it a positive thing for the Giants to have their 3 veteran outfielders and their starting 2Bman (maybe good) away from the team participating in the WBC so that many of the "bubble" players have the opportunity to showcase their skills to earn a spot on the final 13-man non-pitcher roster.
Everyday, at least 8 players get at least a couple ABs and time on the field to earn a spot, plus the backups for 3 infielders and the catcher who don't need a lot of "training" also get half a game (or more) each.
And this has an additional advantage that the "new guy" pulling the strings has so much contact with so many.
OTOH, and maybe this is also a good thing, Webb has only thrown 4 innings.
