OK, team! This is essential reading for all serious Giants fans. Check out David Laurilia's interview with R. J. Dabovitch from today on Fangraphs. It's linked to the left. I am surprised R. J. revealed so much detailed information but it's definitely educational. Check it out!

Great stuff, do you think the Giants (staff) wonder the same thing (revealing so much)?
ReplyDeleteWhat do you think about the Angels making such a costly bet on Thor without even a 2nd year option? Seems like a gross overpay plus giving up their 2nd pick next year. Cannot imagine FZ doing that.
I believe that for all practical purposes, the only limits on team spending are self-imposed. I think Thor is a nice bet on a 1 year/bounceback contract like that. On the other hand, I can understand why some teams might want to spend their money in other ways.
DeleteWow. That was a lot of information, hopefully nothing that every other team doesn't already know about each player's general development process.
ReplyDeleteI'm curious if anyone know what kind of contractual situation these players/prospects/coaches are in regarding how they can be interviewed, what they can and can't say and talk about, and whether the team gets discretion over the material from an interview that either can or can't be used or made public?
That's something I've always wondered about regarding external interviews like these. Either way, this was really interesting stuff to learn about how development goes from College to Pros.
Exactly. My first thought when I read the interview was "geez! I wonder if the Giants are OK with him sharing that much info?
DeleteAh, Belt and Crawford back — Let’s Go Brandon(s)!
