The Brandons each hit a dinger, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Cleveland Indians in a close one in Scottsdale. Key Lines:
Brandon Belt- 1 for 3, HR(3). BA= .480. Belt hits his 3'rd dinger of the spring. If he merely makes his pre-season projections, the Giants are gonna be A-OK. Is a breakout too much to hope for?
Francisco Peguero- 2 for 4. BA= .550. Pegs continues to sting the ball.
Brandon Crawford- 1 for 2, HR(1), BB. BA= .333. Crawford's pre-season projections are not as rosy as Belt's, but I'm expecting some offensive progression. He's always had a great approach at the plate. I think he can hit for modest average and power as he adds experience.
Cole Gillespie- 2 for 2. BA= .300. Gillespie had a couple of 0'fer days there, but gets back on track in this one.
Madison Bumgarner- 1 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 3 K's. ERA= 3.18.
Bochy, Proctor, Rosario, Runzler- 1 scoreless IP each.

ReplyDeleteis anyone really worried about craw? im sure he is putting pressure on himself at the plate when he doesnt have to. all he needs to do is be the prof in the field and everyone will be happy.
very happy that pegs has his timing down early. but i still think the org is gonna prefer he gets everyday at bats than coming off the bench in the bigs...even if he doesnt care

Going to be interesting between Gillespie and Pegs. Bacci might be right and they may want to get Pegs some AB's plus Gillespie has some MLB experience. It is going to be tough to keep them both off the roster though.
ReplyDeleteI think that Crawford is capable of a good batting average and power once he puts it all together. Both he and Belt had moments of good contact rate in 2012, so they just need to be more consistent about it to break out. I think break outs for either or both is very possible for 2013, just don't know how likely.
