Drew Cavanaugh started last season in A San Jose. He's hit at ever level. Can he catch well enough to carry the strong side of a L-R platoon? There are at least 3 pitchers in this game who I would rather have in the Giants bullpen than Ryan Borucki. Foley should be ready soon. The Giants probably want to see him pitch on consecutive days first.

Josuar Gonzalez came out of the game for a pinch runner immediately after running out the triple to lead off the game. The first thing I think of when I see that is a hammy.
Interesting that Zeilinski got promoted to Richmond instead of Kilen.
ReplyDeleteJonah Cox has to be wondering what it takes to get a promotion.
If Cavanaugh keeps hitting, he will find a path to the majors.
Good to see Bednar and Simon have good games. Simon is closer material if he can keep the walks down.
Zelinski got promoted first because he’s more of an organizational depth guy. Killen is a top prospect. They care more about Killen’s development than they do Zelinski. When it comes to organizational guys, the team doesn’t care if they are ready for a minor league promotion or not. When it comes to legit prospects, they want to make sure you’re ready before calling you up. Killen I agree it’s too early right now to call him up to AA. Let him keep showing to the team that he can hit over .300 in A+ for another month and if he is then promote him in July so he gets almost 2 months in AA to get his feet wet their in anticipation to starting the season their next year.
DeleteJonah Cox! Really? Parks Harber: does his glove work in OF? And I've seen scouting reports that Cavanaugh was once considered a glove-first C...may have some things getting ready...
ReplyDeleteThinking about draft. We seemed to have finally a really good flow of hitters and position players. Even now at 3b and C. Maybe 1b is a little light but we have Eldridge and Devers. So, does that suggest heavy pitching?
ReplyDeleteRight now I see pitching as more of a long term organizational need than hitting. I would look for pitchers in this draft. Having said that, you have to take the best player available at #4 no matter what.
DeleteGood to see a positive Spenser Bivens sighting.
