  1. More 4 for 5's and more SB without CS, maybe Gary can get the Giants to take a look at him. But hopefully Pagan will be back soon.

  2. My boy AUSTIN FLEET keeps on rockin. ..Definitely the Giants most consistent(and consistently good) pitcher the last two years be it in the PCL or EL.. Guy definitely has a major league future in relief, but will he be a trade chip?

FLEET and HUNTER STRICKLAND (lights out since coming back from TJ surgery) may be the two Giant pitchers most ready for the majors right now...also two that may be traded!

Another bofo start from YSLA...John Lee from AUGUSTA had him 90-94 mph all night which was a tick below his usual...2nd in the SAL in ERA.....

And a bummer note, CLAYTON BLACKBURN back on the DL (Oblique again???) or is he being rested before being traded?

  3. Looks like Dan Uggla was just released by the Braves. Do you think since we have an issue at 2B that it would be worth to pick him up at the league pro-rated minimum? Maybe a change of scenery would be good. This could be a very low risk/high reward type of deal. Probably would only take like 250-300K to get him. Any thoughts out there?

    1. A big fat pass on that idea. Someone would have to come off the 40 man roster and the 25 man roster to make room for him. Hicks was better defensively and a better batter and is off the 40 man and now playing in Fresburg so why would the G's want to bring in the same player, but with a different name?

    2. Dan Uggla is washed up. No thank you!

    3. Cant be worse than Joaquin Arias.

    4. Oh yes he can! At least Arias can play D. Uggla cannot do ANYTHING!

    5. Let him play for Fresno and see what we can do to revitalize his bat.

I am not sure if Scutaro can play (starting and/or off the bench) more than a couple of games a week.

Pagan update from CSN Bay Area, citing Bochy: unlikely until August at the earliest.

    6. Nope, don't want Uggla in AAA, AAA, or Rookie Ball. Just takes up space for a kid who might actually amount to something.

    7. Honestly, taking a flyer on Uggla doesn't bother me one iota....More than likely he will be thrown back after a week or two, but there is zero risk in seeing if you can catch the proverbial lightning in a bottle.......especially if Scut's back makes him a non entity....I don't care about taking up space of or blocking a kid, I care about winning the pennant this year..and that means trying to address all the holes the Giants have shown the last mointh.....

Normaally I would want to go with a better 2nd baseman to replace Scut's and lessen the burden on Panik, but I think it's more important to concentrate on and spending trade chips on getting a CF (bad feeling Pagan is done) and possibly a SP (if Cain's elbow gets worse) and mist likely a reliever (don't trust the 6th-7th inning guys

    8. The point is, Dan Uggla is done, cooked, finished. You can stick a fork in him! If it was somebody who I thought might possibly help win another WS, then sure, sign him up! Uggla is NOT that guy. Take it to the bank! The man is done!

    9. Probably is and I'm fine with that reason for not signing him in even if I am resigned to the fact that we are going to have to take a big chance on someone....I just don't want the reason to be "Just takes up space for a kid who might actually amount to something"..because there is plenty of room for the kids

    10. I do not agree that there is plenty of room for the kids. Not at 2B.

    11. I agree that they need to go after a 2B if they are going to make a run, but it needs to be for a serious upgrade along the lines of a Ben Zobrist or Daniel Murphy rather than a dumpster dive.

  4. Wow! Not only did the Astros fail to sign Brady Aiken, but they also struck out on Mac Marshall and Jacob Nix! Just wow! What a colossal failure!

    1. Agreed. I think they got a tad too greedy with their beloved 3 for 1 strategy. Even if he has a small UCL, Aiken still projects to be a stud. If our boy Dr. Andrews didn't sign him up for TJ then you know he has to be pretty healthy.

I really think they shot themselves in the foot when they lowered the bonus amount by more than 50%. Seems like they overreacted just a little bit. To put it in perspective, Hoffman got $3.1 million and he can't even pitch. Aikens last fastball registered 98mph, so he can still pitch and they wanted to give him roughly the same amount.

Sucks to be them. I'm super stoked about our top four of Beede, Garcia, Davis, and Webb. High ceiling polished college arm, two polished college bats, and a mid 90s prep arm. Here's to hoping Webb is the new Crick.
